We’re looking forward to introducing you to Diana Castaldi. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Diana, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What battle are you avoiding?
I’m not fighting the battle of trying to be the right artist for everyone anymore. If a client’s style or expectations don’t align with what I offer, I’m comfortable letting them go to someone who’s a better fit. That’s how I keep my energy, creativity and best work for the clients who truly value what I do.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Diana, the artist behind Diana Marie Makeup Artistry. I specialize in timeless, soft-glam bridal makeup that photographs beautifully and lasts through the Texas heat, happy tears, and long wedding days. My studio also offers sunless tanning and hair styling so my brides can enjoy a seamless, stress-free beauty experience in one place. What makes my brand unique is that I approach every look like a collaboration — combining professional techniques with each client’s personality so she still feels like herself, only elevated. Right now I’m expanding my team with an apprentice and opening a new studio, which means even more brides in Waco, Austin and Dallas can enjoy the signature experience I’m known for.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that tried to do it all and please everyone has served its purpose and is ready to be released. In the early stages of my business that drive helped me grow, but now it’s time to focus on the clients, services and creative work that truly light me up and deliver the best results. Letting go of the ‘people-pleaser’ in business allows me to show up with clearer boundaries, more creativity and a better experience for the brides I’m meant to serve.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self that it’s okay if the path everyone expects for you isn’t the one that makes you happiest. All those years of pushing toward a science degree and then a Master’s in Education weren’t wasted — they taught me discipline, empathy and how to teach others. But, you don’t have to stay in a box that doesn’t fit just because you’re good at it. Trust your creativity and your passion sooner; they’ll lead you to work that lights you up!
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I admire my Grandmother, lovingly called Nana for her character. She was only about five feet tall but had the kind of resilience you could feel when she walked into a room and spoke with her. She battled cancer twice and had many mantras, but in particular a simple one about not giving up — you’re in it now. Her quiet strength and determination has shaped the way I approach my work and my life.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
I think my biggest regret would be not taking the leap on ideas that scare me a little but excite me a lot. Every time I’ve trusted my gut and stepped into something new — from leaving teaching to starting my own makeup artistry business — it’s led to growth and fulfillment. I never want to look back and wonder what might have happened if I’d played it safe instead of building the business and creative life I really want.
