An Inspired Chat with Fernando Hernandez Jr of Dallas

We recently had the chance to connect with Fernando Hernandez Jr and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Fernando, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me is working my 9-5 and coming home to my daughter. She is currently 3 months old and she is my world.

Apart from my business I enjoy taking care of my little one and enjoying fatherhood.

A major part of my business is making sure I can balance both father and business.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Fernando Hernandez and I am the owner and CEO of Hernandez Photography.
I started my company at the age of 17 and it’s been amazing! I have grown so much and the quality and great service I have been able to provide has been a blessing. I did take a 1 year gap to focus on some life changes but I am happy to be back and running.

I don’t like to have a “niche” or what other photographers call their “focus or style”.
I like to shoot almost anything I can.
I have done engagements to baby announcements, anything that I can “shoot” that is memorable or just about anything in lifestyle or even landscapes. I am truly a handyman for anything.

I love what I do and love to bring the amazing quality and service to anyone who needs a photo.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
The one who taught me my work was a Graphic Design Teacher at my old high school. The funny part is that I wasn’t his student, I just walked in because a friend of mine had his class and we instantly clicked, he has been the first motivator who truly inspired and sparked my passion.

Christopher Glenn from Irving High School; I truly appreciate his mentorship and his support for my brand!

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
During COVID, I had truly almost gave up the passion, during the lockdown it was so hard to book clients, even when restrictions lifted no one wanted to go outside or even be near people. Given I did take a break from my work but that was due to personal reasons. But that time has truly tested me and now I can say with a full heart that it will not test me again!

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
They would say that I am a super caring person, and want to make anyone happy. Whether that be a stranger or my friends/family, this is primarily why I love what I do. I get to make people happy with photos and give them something to remember by even if it’s just a digital or printed photo.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I want people to know that I care and love my clients, anyone who has done work with me before I truly appreciate and care for them. I want people to know I am not just “doing it for the job/money” now trust me money is great but the memories I capture for other brings me the joy
