Gueston Smith shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Gueston, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
My first 90 minutes set the tone for the entire day. I begin with affirmations: I am healthy. I am wealthy. I am abundant. I am love. I am peaceful. I am truth. I am a visionary entrepreneur and designer, innovating spaces that embody freedom, mastery, and generational wealth. From there, I ground myself in gratitude for my life, my family, my loved ones, God, and even the challenges that shape me. I’ll light incense, put on solfeggio frequencies or nature sounds, and sit in meditation to clear my mind. Then I move my body (pushups, squats, pull-ups, core work, balance work) because I believe the strength of the mind, body, and soul all work together. After I get freshened up, I check emails and align my priorities. Like the airlines say, you put your own oxygen mask on first. Once I’ve taken care of myself, I’m ready to take care of business.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Gueston Smith, and I call myself a spatial entrepreneur. I founded Guesscreative to create accessible spaces and rethink how people build and own space. Instead of being locked into static leases or rigid buildings, I design movable, modular environments, from retail trailers to expandable offices to SIP-panel homes, that give entrepreneurs and communities freedom, flexibility, and equity. For example, we’re currently developing a mobile retail trailer for a basketball hoop company that wanted to connect with their local community in a unique way. Guesscreative gave them the flexibility to transport merchandise, basketball hoops, and floor tiles to create an elevated pop-up basketball court wherever their customers are. What makes my work unique is the lens: I treat space as an asset class, not just a backdrop, blending design, strategy, and ROI. My ideal clients are growth-stage founders with $200K+ in annual revenue who’ve validated their product but are frustrated with commercial leases and outgrowing basic pop-ups. They’re in retail, wellness, construction trades, or events – businesses that need immersive branded experiences that move with them. We provide the wow factor that separates them from competition. Nobody is doing it like we are. Traditional real estate locks you into someone else’s terms, but for the cost of one year’s rent, clients can own their space outright, build equity, and move where their customers are. It’s speed, sovereignty, and ROI all in one package. Right now, I’m focused on launching a high-end trailer leasing fleet and expanding Guesscreative into global markets.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I’ve never let the world tell me who I am. Since childhood I was conditioned to lead, not follow. The only times I got in trouble were when I followed someone else’s path. I’ve always known right from wrong, and I make my own decisions. I don’t need to be anyone else besides who I choose to be and neither do you. Don’t fall for society’s pressures or the limiting beliefs of others.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There were definitely times I wanted to give up. My third year of architecture school was the hardest. The workload was crushing, I wanted a social life, and on top of that, professors kept telling me I’d never make money in architecture. Why give everything to one of the most difficult professions if it didn’t promise financial stability? I was really ready to walk away. But my father didn’t let me. He told me not to quit, to make the experience worthwhile, and reminded me that I could make my own money regardless of what others believed. Looking back, their doubts were really just their own limiting beliefs from their experience projected onto me. Just because they didn’t make money, doesn’t mean I won’t. So, I held it down, graduated from USC school of architecture, and landed a well-paying design job immediately. That experience taught me resilience and that the only true failure is quitting.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely, the public version of me is the real me, just with more refined speech and writing. Everything I put out, I stand behind. I share positivity and insight because I want to bring value to my peers, the younger generation, and my elders. I’m proud of my journey, and part of that means giving myself grace when I make mistakes and learning from them. What I showcase publicly are the parts of me I’ve worked hard to grow into but I’m also an open book for anyone who wants to understand the lessons behind them. I don’t believe in putting on a front. If you have to act to impress people, they aren’t for you anyway. I’ve been the same ol’ G. I am just evolving with knowledge, experience, confidence, and an expanded vision. It’s the authenticity for me.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
What I understand deeply is that each of us has the power to co-create our own reality with God. We’re made in God’s image, which means we’re reflections of God’s will but the challenge is quieting the noise long enough to hear what we’re called to do. Each of us has the inclination to be exceptional at being ourselves. The real question is: what does the greatest version of you look like?
If you can’t see it, ask why not. Figure out what limiting beliefs are holding you back. For me, that’s providing value to the world through design. I love to experience new clients and listen to their ambitions. When that basketball hoop company came to us, they already had a vision – they wanted to create a mobile basketball court experience to connect with their community in a unique way. They had quieted the noise of conventional retail and heard what they were truly called to create. They found Guesscreative because they recognized we were the right fit to bring their vision to life. That’s what happens when visionary entrepreneurs align with partners who understand how to turn bold ideas into reality.
The path is simple: limit distractions, set clear goals, reflect often, and take massive action. Act on your highest excitement to the best of your ability, for as long as you can, without attachment to the outcome. When you have the courage to pursue your authentic vision – and find the right partners to execute it – your life transforms in ways you can’t imagine.
