An Inspired Chat with Jennifer Gowans

Jennifer Gowans shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Jennifer, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
I really enjoy being creative! So, whenever, I’m in a creative space whether it be, interior decorating, crafting, make-up techniques, doing any artistic things, I can totally lose myself and track of time.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Howdy! I’m Jennifer Gowans, a Certified Relationship Life Coach. I have successfully aided in and matched some of the Dallas – Fort Worth Metroplex’s most elite singles. I have previously worked for 2 of the top dating firms in the Dallas Fort Worth Area (what was formally known as The Fort Worth Dating Company and It’s Just Lunch). I also, owned my own Single’s Event business, called the “Eat Drink & Paint Playdates” that were hosted at what was formally known as Button’s Restaurant Fort Worth. I’ve been in the Matchmaking field for over 14 years! I’ve hosted seminars, workshops, had a dating Podcast with my husband and we had our own Radio Show on a internet radio station called KMOCradio.com before podcasts were even what we know it to now be. Today, I do individual Coaching sessions and still host seminars. I have been featured in an article on this platform previously, as well as, an article in Healthline and The American Kidney Fund. I’m an ambassador for The American Kidney Fund, so I’m one busy Relationship Coach! Managing my Kidney disease, is also, a #1 priority for me these days too.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I always believed as a child that I was in control of the outcome of my life. I’m a spiritual person, so I know that God is in the ultimate control of my life, but to some degree, we control our destiny. I now know, that we don’t. We have influence on the outcome of our life driven by the choices we make, but life can throw curveball’s that you would never expected in your wildest dreams. So, destiny happens and in most cases, it has very little to do with what you’ve decided for yourself.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would say “keep believing in love,” because you are going to be instrumental in helping many people find it!

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The biggest lie I hear in my Industry is that “Love” is just an emotion. Love is not JUST a feeling alone, its a commitment to the feeling. If you love someone, you have to commit every day to continuing to love that person, it doesn’t just happen, without the commitment to it. Let that sink in a minute!!

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope that when I’m gone, people will tell others about how genuine I was. In all aspects of my life, whether its career or personal, what you see, is what you get! I’m very genuine to who I am and it doesn’t change no matter the environment or surrounding.
