We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jo Lavelah. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Jo , thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first thing I do is spend a moment in gratitude. Saying out loud that I am thankful for waking to see another day and I decided what type of day im going to have. Next, I usually open my window and let some natural light in, then I make my bed. I usually make a cup of tea, sometimes coffee if I’m really in need of a pick me up! Then I try to go for a quick walk and habit stack it with engaging on the social media channels I manage.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, my name is Jo Lavelah and I’m a Confidence & Mindset coach for women. I’m the founder of “What She Thinks” which is a personal development brand for women. My brand focuses on promoting mental well being and being a resource for women seeking personal growth and development. I am in the process of growing my brand to be well known within the industry. My current goal is to serve 1000 women and go from there! I plan to start hosting events here in Dallas for women to come together and build community.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
It was very recent actually, I’d say early 2024. I’ve been posting content on multiple social media channels channels for a few years already, but I was still afraid to be “seen” and judged. Something clicked and I stopped caring and decided to double down on content and reach the women that were meant the connect with me. It was the best decision I made and a very powerful one.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
The thought of giving up crosses my mind at least 1-2 times a month haha. Some seasons are harder than others and not everyone can handle the amount of pressure from building something in public and feeling like you don’t know what you’re doing sometimes. But I’ve grown to love the game, learn from it, and let it shape me. No matter how many times I feel like quitting, I know I never will.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
I would say so but some may have their own opinions. As someone that preaches about personal growth, positivity, etc.. Some can see it as me pretending to be “perfect” but to be honest, that’s who I am. I’m real, I’m raw, what you see is what you get. I’m far from perfect and have never claimed to be. One thing no one can take away from me is the fact that I wake up everyday and simply do my best to be a decent human being and I keep trying to do better.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people experience me, all of me, the real me. Because if they did they would know my heart. They would say she truly did care about helping others and always pushed everyone around her to keep going and never give up on themselves. They’d say I made them believe in themselves and their dreams and was always kind.
