Kelsey Rae shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Kelsey , we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
We often say at RaeDerma we have built an amazing community of people who have successfully cleared their acne or improved the health of their skin and regained their confidence in ways they previously thought was impossible. While we share a lot of the before/afters of our clients, it’s still so rewarding to see the thousands of peoples’ lives we have had a chance to be a part of in impacting positively.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
We are RaeDerma, a blend of med spa meets acne clinic – we have helped 12,500+ people achieve healthy, vibrant skin. We are a full-service med spa with a variety of services: chemical peels, BioRePeel, SkinPen microneedling, LED light treatments, microderm and more. We also treat and specialize in hard-to-solve cases of acne when people have visited dermatologists who cannot get them clear. As acne specialists, we treat a full spectrum of acne-related issues. We are also the founders of EZAcne, a pimple/dermal patch brand in nearly 1000 retailers sold online.
We’ve worked with thousands of clients and one thing we’ve learned along the way — confidence starts with clear, vibrant and healthy skin that helps you look and feel your best.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
When things have been hard or challenging at RaeDerma, there’s no margin for ego, shortcuts, or assumptions. You’re forced to prioritize what actually matters, make meaningful decisions and take full ownership of outcomes. This is how we have built momentum and some degree of predictability in our business.
Success can validate good instincts, but suffering or challenges sharpens your judgment and teaches you to pick up on certain patterns in your business for things that work and those that don’t. It teaches resilience, forces efficiency, and builds the kind of decision-making muscle that holds up under pressure—especially when the stakes are real and the path forward isn’t obvious.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
Academic and educational aren’t always the things that matters most, especially in unique niches like we care for at RaeDerma. For example, we see so many clients that come from dermatologists that cannot help clear the skin because they often don’t have the direct experience with blemish-prone skin that we do or they just want a quick fix for their clients. We have often found that practitioners also do not always take the time needed or perhaps try alternative solutions to solve client’s needs, especially with acne. This is one of the major reasons we decided to specialize in acne and chronically blemish prone skin, and why we continue to see so many new patients. There continues to be a massive need for clients along with better education around skin wellness and care.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
With a cup of coffee in my hand 😉
