An Inspired Chat with Loren Carlson of Cleburne

We recently had the chance to connect with Loren Carlson and have shared our conversation below.

Loren, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
My greatest joys are those of my family, my husband Travis and our 2 little girls – Laramie who is 14 months old and Emerson who is 2 months old!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Loren Carlson, a 21 year old entrepreneur, photographer, and business marketing specialist located in the heart of DFW Texas! I specialize in Weddings, Events, and Business Branding photography while also working to develop effective marketing for local businesses around me! I started photography as a hobby in high school, but as I graduated it quickly became a huge passion of mine. I worked for a home inspection company and a title company, both of which I still manage social media for on a large scale, which allowed me to learn and develop a passion for business social media marketing as well!

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
I think mistrust, mistakes, situations, pain break the bond between people. It’s really hard to navigate peoples expectations, experiences and emotions through life. However, I think it’s a very beautiful thing when people are able to show compassion and forgiveness through such situations to those who have hurt them. I’ve always heard “hurt people, hurt people” but can you imagine what healed people do? That’s what truly is inspiring! I’ve had my fair share of hurts, mistakes, accidents, etc…but what really made the difference was the forgiveness through Christ we can accept, support of my inner circle of friends & family, and overall compassion shown to me and others in those moments!

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Absolutely! This industry, any industry that your building, it is not for the weak of heart. There have definitely been times where maybe something didn’t turn out the way I wanted it to or get the attention I had expected, or business had slowed down which can be super discouraging! But it’s about how you combat that & keep going that matters! Ups and downs are inevitable, but without the “down” we’d probably take the “ups” for granted way more often!

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
God’s! I personally am a Christian, which means that I believe that Jesus came to earth as a sinless human and died for our sins so that we could also go to Heaven. I also believe that people are born coherently sinful, so that means anything good is from God. Those good ideas, are from God! So anytime, especially when it comes to business – I try not to take credit for the blessings or ideas that God has given me but instead honor Him through them. Sometimes it’s not easy to trust God, sometimes it’s scary but all throughout my life I’ve seen His hand at work from my adoption story, to meeting my husband, having my kids, and being able to own my own business. I couldn’t have done any of it without God, so that’s who I rely on the most!

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m with the people who I love the most and who love me the most, in those moments my heart is fully and completely filled and my soul is at peace. That’s one reason I enjoy photography so much, because I get the honor to capture that same peace and joy, in my clients and share it with them!
