We recently had the chance to connect with Meaghan Stephens and have shared our conversation below.
Meaghan , so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. Who are you learning from right now?
My current teachers are the most profound I’ve ever known: my daughter’s unwavering strength and God’s steadfast grace. Following a terrible accident where I lost my left hand, the world shifted, but watching my daughter face challenges with such resilience has been my greatest lesson in fortitude. She doesn’t just look to me for strength; her own spirit, shining so brightly, continually pours back into me, making me stronger because I see her being strong from me. This exchange is a constant, humbling testament to the power of love and faith.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a devoted mom to two amazing children and the driving force behind Honey’s Soft Play Rentals, a business I cherish. Until recently, I was also running an indoor playground, a venture currently on hold after a terrible accident that resulted in the loss of my left hand and a broken right elbow. Though my path has taken an unexpected turn, this setback has only fueled my ambition. My resolve is unbroken, and as soon as I’m strong enough, I have major goals to achieve my ultimate dream: reopening our indoor playground and welcoming families back.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Even before I could truly see myself, God saw me clearly. He didn’t just see the person I was, but the strength I was capable of, especially after facing a life-altering event. It was in the aftermath of my accident that He truly showed me just how powerful and resilient I am, confirming that the potential for such fortitude was always within me. This realization is my deepest comfort and motivation: to know that I have always been under His great and protective covering, guided by a plan far stronger than my own immediate sight.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
The turning point came not when the pain lessened, but when I realized the energy it took to hide it was far greater than the energy it would take to own it. I was tired of living behind a facade of “fine,” silently shouldering the weight of my loss and injury. It was in that moment of surrender—when I finally decided to peel back the layers of pretense and look my reality squarely in the eye—that I stopped being a victim of my pain and started using it as raw power. This isn’t just a story about surviving an accident; it’s a testament to the life I’m now actively building from the scar tissue up
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I want to make it absolutely clear: I am fully dedicated to reopening my indoor playground, with an unshakeable commitment that transcends any timeline. My resolve goes beyond just opening the doors; I am prepared to invest the time, energy, and unwavering focus required to ensure it is fully accessible and meets everyone’s needs. No matter the hurdles, and no matter how long the journey ultimately takes, my mission remains the same—to create a truly inclusive and welcoming space for all familie
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What will you regret not doing?
The simple question I continually ask myself is, “What will I regret not doing?” The answer is clear: I would regret not fighting fiercely for my children and for myself, and I would certainly regret letting my dreams—especially that indoor playground—slip away. This is precisely why I am dedicated and committed, driving forward every single day. My missing hand is a part of my story, not the end of it; it’s a testament to a battle won, and it certainly won’t stop me from winning the next one
