We’re looking forward to introducing you to TJ Mac. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning TJ , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Producing and making beats. There’s nothing like crafting an instrumental from scratch and watching it form into a full song layer by layer. Once it’s done listening back to it feels empowering to know I made it
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m TJ Mac, an artist/producer born in Waco raised in DFW. I own a record label/production company called Masters And Collaborations or (MXC) pronounced like Mac. It represents a blend of southern hospitality principles and collaborations with various different creatives & like minded individuals who strive to master their craft whether it be music, art, fashion, film, etc.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My momma. She instilled things in me that made me who I am today while I was still in the womb, so growing up she would always tell me affirmations before I knew what they were and those affirmations shaped my mindset today to strive for nothing less than greatness
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yeah quite a few times.. but the passion and the love for my art always outweighs the decision to give up. I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I ever did. That’s one of the reasons I made one of my recent singles “No Regrets” to remind myself I get one life in this body so might as well live it to the fullest and that requires not giving up.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
If it touches the people and moves the culture in more than one way then it’s obvious that it’s a foundational shift. Fads and trends come and go but the people will always be an indicator of something real, especially when it bridges the older generation with the younger generation
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
Whenever I meditate. I got heavy into meditation around 2018 and been hooked since
