Today we’d like to introduce you to Chera Chaney.
Chera, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I grew up in a family of artists so my love for art was inevitable, but my passion grew even deeper after losing my cousin to cancer and having to use it as my main coping mechanism. Ever since, art has always been and always will be a part of my life. I now incorporate art and design into every day through my full time job as an associate art director and painting in my free time.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I paint using mostly oils but mix in acrylic as well. I try not to limit myself to subject matter or style but tend to be drawn towards hyper-realism still life imagery. I allow myself to be open to new inspiration every day and look for it in all aspects of my life. I hope my art inspires others to follow their passion and do what they love.
How do you think about success, as an artist, and what quality do you feel is most helpful?
Success is being unapologetically yourself and producing art that you love. One of the main qualities that is essential to success as an artist is confidence in yourself. It seems so simple but I think the biggest challenge we face as artists is simply ourselves. With social media as prevalent as it is today we see other artist’s work and success daily on our feed and naturally compare our work to theirs. It is easy to become self-conscious to put ourselves and our work out there because of the fear of failure, but with confidence in who we are as artist’s all things are possible.

I will also be showing in the RAW artists show April 5th and Conception Art Show April 13th in Dallas.
