Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Polk.
Hannah, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
Growing up, I loved flipping through my grandparents’ scrapbooks. They traveled all over the world, and my grandfather, my Papa, took the best photos, capturing their memories for us to look back on decades later. I’ve had a camera in my hand for as long as I can remember. Dragging my oldest brother outside during golden hour to get the perfect shot turned into capturing his proposal to my sister-in-law. Forcing my younger brother to look at the camera for just ONE group photo turned into taking his (as well as a ton of others graduating in his class and classes before before him) senior pictures, and my little sister always willing to do whatever it took to help me get the best angle has turned into her being my favorite go-to model. My friends have always been my biggest supporters, putting up with my “pull over, that’s an Instagram-perfect shot!” and my constant correction of iPhone photo angles. My dream that turned into a small business for a little extra cash on the side is growing more than I could have ever imagined. God has allowed me to grow this hobby and has connected me with so many great people through the years. He’s also been SO faithful to provide the perfect lighting…..every single time. I love taking photos, and I’ve been so lucky to get the clients that I do!
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
The first thing I tell people is that my goal is to capture memories. I have a warm/moody editing style, but at the end of the day, I want to deliver photos that my clients can look back on and say “wow that was such a good day! She captured our personalities perfectly.”
Any advice for aspiring or new artists?
Just be YOU! Your brand should be a reflection of who you are, and I wish someone had told me that I didn’t have to fit a mold to be a photographer.
