Art & Life with Hannah Robison

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Robison.

Hannah, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I grew up in a musical family, but I was the only one whose passion was singing. I was extremely shy as a child, but I remember telling myself that I was going to have to figure out how to get over that because of how much I wanted to perform. So, I did. I pushed myself outside of my comfort zone, and still do, but I have grown so much with music being my motivation. Singing and playing piano are my loves, and sharing them with others brings me so much joy. I feel that one of my greatest duties in life is to share the talent and love for music I’ve been given.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I’m a classically trained singer and pianist and love performing and teaching all types of music from classical to pop to musical theatre. I believe music is the highest form of art and love and feeling and communication, so sharing this with others is very important to me. I love singing and playing songs that touch people emotionally, and truly stop and breathe and remember the depth of life and what’s truly important. I love to teach kids and adults how they can make their own music, helping them shape their unique voices and skill. I want to teach healthy singing and musicianship that will help their personal music last all their lives. Music is something important in everyone’s lives and I want to bring that love and joy to whoever will listen.

In your view, what is the biggest issue artists have to deal with?
In the new age of social media, it’s tough as an artist to feel “successful” if you don’t have thousands of followers or likes. Of course, the more people who see you and are interested in what you have to offer, the better, but it can make it hard. Being an artist, and especially a musician, is already competitive enough, but now we can see everyone in the world who we are competing against. I think it’s important to love what you do so much that this doesn’t affect you. Work hard, but make sure your passion for it is always there. Also, always support other artists, especially the ones who are working hard to be seen. They need you.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
I work out of The Dallas School of Music in Farmer’s Branch. It’s an incredible school with wonderful facilities and many other instrument instructors, being awarded Best Music School in Dallas by CBS DFW, D Magazine, and Dallas Child Magazine. You can find out more about the school at www.thedallasschoolofmusic.com. I personally am working toward building up my clientele more and more all the time, and love sharing what my students and I are up to through my Facebook page and Instagram accounts, both found by searching Hannah Robison Music. Please follow and like and comment, but encourage anyone you know who may be interested in music to visit the school’s website or send me a private message! I work with all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels, so everyone is welcome!
