Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Brooke.
Kimberly, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I’m Kimberly, a Beauty and Boudoir Photographer based in Central Texas. Boudoir is a genre of photography in which the subject is captured in an intimate setting, in any stage of dress or undress. It happens to be my favorite style of photography and the perfect niche for me. I found out early in my career that one of my strengths is photographing women. I’ve fallen in love with the making women feel amazing about themselves, and creating art that empowers femininity in such a big way.
Every photographer has their own unique style, and I would describe mine as romantic, feminine and naturally sensual. I love movement, texture, natural light and shadows, and tousled hair. I want your pictures to feel effortless, and I pride myself on being able to make the most nervous client forget she is in her “underthings” or “birthday suit” while we capture her gorgeous images. I strive to capture images that feel unposed and have an “I woke up like this” appeal. My photo sessions are about so much more than sexy imagery, they are about the entire experience from top to bottom, and showing women their true beauty.
When you shoot with me you will feel confident, see yourself as beautiful, and I will deliver an amazing experience and collection of images that will knock your socks off. Every woman should celebrate what makes her unique, and I want to be a part of making that happen for you.
More about myself… I love my family, friends, and fur-babies. I married the man of my dreams, who is taller, darker and more handsome than my wildest dreams. I love to laugh and to make others laugh. I am a lover of Jesus, queso-holic and self-described goofball. My second dream job is to be a race car driver… and save all the animals. I LOVE to dance, I curse a little too much, and I strongly believe that you can never have too many pairs of shoes.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I make women feel amazing about themselves with one little camera and a heck of a creative and detailed eye. All I do is show them who they are, sometimes they have just forgotten, and need a little reminder… Or a giant reminder, which is what I do. I also happen to make people feel super comfortable in their undies.
The message is that you are beautiful just as you are, and you should celebrate that. The sexiest thing you can wear is a smile, and beauty and boudoir photography is for every single woman, every single body and every single age. No restrictions here. People should, and do, walk away with a new swagger and confidence that they never had before their shoot with me. A beauty or boudoir photo shoot is not about objectifying women; it’s all about the woman doing it for herself, and being proud of exactly who she is in that moment in her life.
In 2018, a portion of proceeds from Kimberly Brooke Boudoir will go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, in support of women and their families who are affected by the disease.
Artists rarely, if ever pursue art for the money. Nonetheless, we all have bills and responsibilities, and many aspiring artists are discouraged from pursuing art due to financial reasons. Any advice or thoughts you’d like to share with prospective artists?
A creative/artistic path, that of a small business owner is absolutely a challenging one. My advice is to stick to it and work hard. Work really, really hard. This career came with great sacrifice, blood, sweat and tears. If you have to, keep a full time job until you get to a place where financially you can scale that job back to part-time, then eventually, you will be able to make the transition to full time artist and leave the other job or side-hustle behind. That is what I had to do with my business, and it worked well for me. It was a long road, but I can say that I’ve earned this!
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
People can see my work on my website, www.
People can support me simply by coming to get in front of my camera. Which is the same way I support them! By photographing them and showing them their beauty and a piece of who they are.
