Art & Life with Kylie Austin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kylie Austin.

Kylie, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I’m a born and raised Houstonian who recently relocated to the Dallas area. I’m a soccer player and also a cancer survivor at the ripe age of 23 who has seen and accomplished so much in such a short time. I also am a small business owner who utilizes blogging as a platform to create and connect in various niches.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
My art is my life, and how I showcase it through the various mediums, I have access to. I think people don’t appreciate the tiniest of the silver linings and appreciate their day to day circumstances. I have so many avenues to create within, whether it be on the soccer field, through my company, or through my social media/blog. I live a life where I get to constantly create and showcase how I view the world and all the silver linings that surround me. I love creating. I love having the opportunity to showcase my environments and the little things in the world that leave me awestruck; sometimes, it’s as simple as a flower or older gentlemen enjoying his coffee on the banks of the Seine. I always hope I leave people inspired one way or another, as well as being relatable. I think in this day and age it’s so easy to see the negative or a ‘fake’ world and I try to find the positives and showcase my real world. I think my honesty and vulnerability allows people to connect more deeply with my creations and that is what my audience enjoys about my work.

How do you think about success, as an artist, and what do quality do you feel is most helpful?
I define success as people engaging and connecting with my art. Even if it’s just one person who connects, I deem it a success. You have to love what you do and pour your love into every piece or else there will be no connection. If your love and passion for your art isn’t prevalent, how will others be able to connect with a soul-less piece?

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
My Instagram @kyliethesmiley is my main platform. I’ve got a teespring shop up under the brand name K.Aus (pronounced K.Aus), as well as a facebook page, Kylie Austin, and my company K.Austin Consulting and PR, LLC.

Most of my work and community engagements go through my Instagram or Facebook page, whether it be an appearance, event, podcast, interview, blog post, etc. The best way people can support my work is by following and engaging with my posts; by sharing what they like with friends and tagging friends. The more exposure my creations get, the more I can grow my creations, as well as give back to my communities.
