Today we’d like to introduce you to Markel Writez.
Markel, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
As a child growing up I raised by my grandparents my granny was my everything her name is Florene Scott.
She was involved in everything I did from school sports and outside hobbies. She passed away out four years back. My mom was always in the picture. We were like brothers and sisters. She had me at a young age of 16. she passed away about eight years ago fighting her life against lupus. I miss her every day. My uncle Henry Scott aka uncle Fess helped raise me. He also helped me with my music career. He played the part as a manager helping me open doors. We got to experience alot of great things together. Traveling, concerts, and other musical events.
I am a father of 5, three boys and two girls. As a grinding artist, I also work in west tx in the oilfield making sure my family is secure and making sure I make money to invest in my career. Life has had ups in downs in my journey, but I was taught to never give up on something you love. When life tries to knock you down go harder and thats what I do, I never show weakness even when people think everything I do is great and consistent, they do not know the battles I go through as a father and artist, but I just remain focus and keep going. I teach my kids about life and how school is very important, and if they want things in life, you got to go get it. im very hard on them and they appreciate it.
They tell me all the time. Sometimes I feel my life could be a great movie. It has so much to discuss and talk about. This year of 2019, I’ve started my career over as the name Markel Writez. im born out of Monahans tx but rep the funk aka fort worth to the fullest. im humble, I enjoy teaching the game to others who do not know. I have open up for various major artist as Master P, T-Pain, B.O.B., YG, Webbie Dorrough, Tianna Taylor, etc. I have a new project out called carnival on all social and streaming platforms. Just did an interview with hip hop weekly. You can check out on my youtube. Just search Markel Writez, and I have more interviews on the way.
There’s more to my life, but it’s too much to type, lol.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
My style of music is called trap soul, meaning I sing, and rap so I fuse it together creating trap soul.
im a diverse artist giving different types of music people can relate from. I like to show people I just don’t rap about one thing. That I can talk about anything. I get alot of great feedback from my music but the way I inspire people isn’t just from my music is everything I promote and put on the table. I also show people who I am as a person and how humble and down to earth, I am. To me thats how you gain loyal fans.
Artists rarely, if ever pursue art for the money. Nonetheless, we all have bills and responsibilities, and many aspiring artists are discouraged from pursuing art due to financial reasons. Any advice or thoughts you’d like to share with prospective artists?
Always take care of your priorities first. Something selling drugs is the way, but it’s not. If there are things, you can sacrifice then do it so you can put your money towards your career.
