Art & Life with Taylor Pendleton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Pendleton.

Taylor, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I had always loved arts and crafts growing up. All through high school, I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to be. When I graduated all I knew was I just wanted to love my Job. I knew it had to be something I wouldn’t get bored of. Shortly, after I graduated, I spent two months in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico visiting my dad. He moved out there after having a hard year and decided to chase his dreams of living around the world. He rebuilt his life around everything he was passionate about. He spent his days on the beach, spearfishing, walking the town, trying foods, and connecting with God. I became extremely inspired. I wanted to fill my life with things I was passionate about. I wanted to figure out what my dream life looked liked and to chase it. When I found abstract art, I instantly fell in love with it. It felt freeing as if time had stopped while I was creating. Since then, Art has changed my life in so many ways. It has filled me with passion, inspiration, and happiness. It has also given me a healthy way to cope with my emotions, direction, goals, and dreams.

My story as an artist just began one year ago, and I’ve never been more excited for the future. I’ve just launched my blog “Happily Ever Crafty” one month ago to inspire others to get creative, share artist resources, tutorials, tips, techniques, and motivate people to find their passions as well as chase their dreams. One day I hope to turn “Happily Ever Crafty” into more than just a blog. I hope to open my own studio/boutique where all my art and handmade items could be for sale while also having an additional area to teach creative workshops.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I am a mixed media abstract artist. I fell in love with this style because it’s so freeing. My favorite mediums are fluid acrylics, alcohol inks, and resin. I create paintings, and I also have a home decor line of hand-painted serving trays, coasters, and jewelry trays all finished in resin. Creating has become a part of my daily routine Because it clears my mind and I get so lost in the process. I love to get creative, experiment, and try new things. Follow me on Instagram @taylorpendleton_art to see time lapses of me working and to stay up to date on the launch of my upcoming YouTube channel. Traveling, geodes, sky/space, the ocean, and bright colors all fill me with inspiration to create. My art is an expression of my emotions, my outlet, my imagination brought to life, and my passion. I hope when you look at my art it makes you feel something whether it be happiness, peace, excitement, inspiration or passion. Every piece I create is filled with a little piece of me, lots of love, and passion.

Do you think conditions are generally improving for artists? What more can cities and communities do to improve conditions for artists?
In my opinion, there has never been a better time in history to be an artist. With great platforms like Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, and Facebook there are so many ways to create an audience around your art. There’s also a lot more ways for an artist to create an income nowadays. I can’t wait to explore all of the options. Cities like Dallas could help artists thrive more by buying art from artists instead of corporations, and business owners could help by letting local artist showcase their art in their businesses.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
Instagram @taylorpendleton_art Facebook page @taylorpendletonart and website http://happilyevercrafty.com Recently I have had my art featured in a hair salon. I would love to find a more local business to showcase my art in the near future. People can support my work by following me on social media, spreading the word, buying a piece of my art, ordering a custom piece, or have me host a paint party. I offer alcohol ink coaster classes and fluid art classes

I went to school with Taylor and she has always had and eye for color and art. I’m so glad she decided to take it to a whole new level and make something out of it for herself. I’m proud of you Taylor!
