Today we’d like to introduce you to Becky Morris.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We are a mother-daughter team that loves fashion and shopping! We inspire each other and are excited to share our love of fashion through our store Lily Claire! We believe fashion is what you buy and style is how you wear it.
I love fashion! My former job as the Fashion and Marketing Director for Saks Fifth Avenue kept me busy producing runway shows and events for many designers and celebrities. As a fashion stylist, I have worked with hundreds of clients providing styling guidance, wardrobe consulting, personal shopping, and closet cleanouts. Modern, boho, vintage – I love and wear it all! I have always wanted to curate my own collection of clothing that I love – so opening a store was a natural progression for me.
And getting to do this along with my daughter Lily is a dream come true. Lily is a senior at Prosper High School and has already developed her own take on fashion, retail, and merchandising, with a special passion for vintage and thrifting. We partner together on buying, merchandising, social media, and events for the store so it’s truly a mother-daughter concept. We have been open for a year and are excited to have the opportunity to expand the store to make it bigger and better than ever!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Well, we opened during Covid last year so that was definitely a challenge! Everything from market collections to vendor supplies to the way our clients dress every day had changed. It was very hard to go to market and buy for the store (which was not yet open) and try to figure out if people would continue working from home, or even be going to events like holiday parties so knowing what to buy was kind of up in the air. But we just stayed true to our aesthetic and bought the lines and collections that we love in hopes that our clients would love them too.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I think we are known as a store where you can find something unique and different. We love vintage and boho styles – and love mixing high and low pieces, designer and casual too. I like to encourage our customers to step out of their comfort zone a little and try something new. And forget the rules – there are no more rules in fashion really. Dress for yourself and if you love what you wear then nothing is more fashionable than that.
We also love styling our clients for special events or everyday life too and helping them find their own personal style.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was always interested in fashion – always reading Vogue and wearing things that were a little out there – lol! I loved styling looks for myself and family members (maybe whether they asked or not.) I grew up as a Texas country girl on the outskirts of Houston so it was definitely a small town / big city kind of vibe. We lived in an area with horses as well as subdivisions so it was truly the best of both worlds.
