Brian, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about your customers?
The most surprising thing I’ve learned my customers is that most them have relationship issues and they use our photo shoot for therapy.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Brian Goins, the owner and creative force B Goins Photography. I’m a internationally published fashion photographer with 16 publications and a lifelong relationship with the camera. I create bold, high-impact imagery where fashion meets attitude.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
The person who saw me clearly I would have to say is my T.V. and broadcasting highschool teacher Dr. Thornhill. He allowed me to be creative in his class and he showed me how to expand my horizon.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Those times always pop up in my head until I get emails that want to hire me for an event or a client sends me a DM letting me know how much they love my work.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The biggest lies in my industry are how you rich you can get overnight. There are plenty of people in this industry that give up pretty early because they think they are going to be successful in a short period of time.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel peace when I’m out of the country. Especially when I’m somewhere in Asia. It’s peaceful out there.
