Check out Amy Corley’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Corley.

Amy, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
Born in Dallas, Texas, I grew up to love photography at the age of thirteen, when my father showed me how to use his 1970’s-era Canon 35 mm camera. After graduating high school, I studied photography at a small technical school in western Massachusetts. After graduating college in 2005 I returned home to Dallas and began working full time for Lifestyle photographer Andy Klein. After two years in Texas I moved to New York city where I spent four years working under lifestyle, interior, and food photographers. The last three years in New York I worked full time shooting ecommerce fashion and still life for Saks 5th aver and Lord and Taylor websites. My husband and I have now been back in Texas for almost three years and could not be happier! I’ve shot weddings and portraits my whole career and love creating beautiful memories for all my clients! My favorite subject however is my daughter Lorelai who was born this past December.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I photograph weddings, engagement sessions, family portraits, and new born. I love working with people in all these stages of life to capture and make lasting memories for them. I feel there is a great purpose for recording these sentimental moments to look back on. My work is very influenced by the time I spent working under lifestyle and commercial photographers. I’ve always enjoyed the technical and emotional side of photography. I’ve been very lucky to work under very talented and inspiration people.

Have things improved for artists? What should cities do to empower artists?
I think there is more importance and need for art today. Whether it’s public murals or teaching kids to use their brain creatively art has proven to be a wonderful and useful tool in society. I think platforms like Instagram are amazing for surfacing and encouraging great artist. It’s a wonderful way to grow and share your passion.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
