Today we’d like to introduce you to Cherie Fruehan.
Cherie Fruehan is a published author and artist. She was born and raised in Scranton, Pennsylvania where she earned her BFA from Marywood University. She credits her education with inspiring her to dabble in all things creative.
A member of MENSA, she’s had her art featured on the cover and inside pages of the organization’s magazine, the MENSA Bulletin. She is the author of the newly published fictional mystery, The Suicide of Sophie Rae.
She resides in Allen, Texas where she paints, writes, and makes oddities. She loves every minute of it.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
When I am not painting, I am writing. I am proud to say I recently published my first novel. It is a work of fiction – a mystery – titled The Suicide of Sophie Rae.
It is about a detective who used to be an empath as a child. He had the gift of being able to see and hear the dead but was persuaded by his strict Irish-Catholic mom to stop listening to the voices, as she feared they were evil. Young and impressionable, he grew up ignoring his intuition and became a very analytical man. As fate would have it, he is called to work on a case, but something is a bit off.
Without giving away the premise, I can just say someone needs to communicate with our detective, and he is going to have to trust his long-ignored intuition in order to receive the message. If he does, it will lead him to answers to the questions he didn’t even think to ask.
The plot is twisty and surprising.
The story lived in my head for a long time before I actually wrote the book.
What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
As an artist and author, I believe success is achieved by following through with those crazy creative inspirations that come to us throughout the days, months and years.
Sometimes an idea will rush in fast and loud, like a sonic boom; other times it is a mere whisper. As artists, we must listen to the whispers, to our intuitions – our inner guides – as they will certainly lead us on exciting adventures!
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
People can find the book online. Amazon offers both e-book and paperback.
