Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Arnold.
Kayla, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
As a kid, I use to run a blog posting pictures of my dolls. Once I got older, I realized I had to pick a career path to pursue. Everything I wanted to go to college for just seemed to fall through. All my friends were following their passions, and I was struggling to find the right classes. One day I was on my old laptop, and my blog was right there! I realized my passion wasn’t an everyday one that we talked about in school, but it was the fact that I saw things differently. That I would rather be a photographer than have any old 9-5 job.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I take pictures of anything really! I truly love to take pictures of flowers. Flowers to me represent so much hope and light, that’s what I want to remind people of when they see my pictures.
The sterotype of a starving artist scares away many potentially talented artists from pursuing art – any advice or thoughts about how to deal with the financial concerns an aspiring artist might be concerned about?
My parents would always tell me, “If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day.” I fully stand by this statement, I’m still a high school student, so I’ll have to wait and see about my personal finances!
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
Right now I’m growing my platform on Instagram. A like or a follow means a lot! My page is @_photographsbya_
