Check Out Kire Davis’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kire Davis.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We all start with dreams and somehow the world has its way of dimming our light as we grow up. This is where I found myself! Somewhere between dreams and the reality of being a broke college student back in your hometown. The worst thing you can do when you’re down or things aren’t going your way is think “I’m the only one” feeling this way. It isolates you and ultimately leaves you stagnant. So I told myself, there’s no way I can be the only one feeling this way day-to-day. This led me to opening up authentic conversations about real life topics such as why right now never feels like enough. The things that matter! The thoughts I was stuck with all too often.

My hypothesis was correct I guess! Other people were having the same thoughts and looking for a safe place to share them.

I decided to showcase these topics and started a podcast called The Habitual Project. The podcast was a personal record of me becoming more disciplined, patient and compassionate. The best version of myself which is a persona or alter ego called Habitual Kire. My goal was to simply express myself and encourage others to do the same.
Through the pandemic, this has developed into several businesses and creative ventures. I now have a brand that speaks this message of expression and acceptance of your circumstance. FNR or For No Reason is all about breaking out of the boxes we are put in and focusing on doing things just because. Everything doesn’t have to be a side hustle. We can express ourselves for no reason. Right now, we have the Embrace crewneck that states the definition “to accept or support willingly and enthusiastically”. It’s a message I think we all need after this hectic year. Embracing where I’m at and the hand I was dealt has transformed my life and brought me to this place.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been smooth. For instance, I wanted to launch my podcast about four years ago. I always felt trapped doing the corporate job route when my passions were elsewhere. Things just didn’t work out for me to launch earlier. I remember in 2019, I thought it’d be time to launch, but everyone on my team was at a different phase of life. Then this year, by the time I was set up to launch, the stay at home orders had been issued. I remember driving home after a session and at this time, I was planning a speaking event in Dallas. I walked inside and it hit me that my plans once again were paused. Of course, that wasn’t enough. I got laid off the next week. Not to mention I’m working on completing my M.S. in Applied Data Analytics through all of this. It was a lot of balance! I have to laugh it off sometimes because I call myself Habitual Kire but when the pandemic hit my habits exposed more about myself. My biggest challenge was not even mastering myself, but knowing enough about myself to follow through with the goals I set.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I love speaking! Speaking is a passion of mine. I’m definitely known for expressing myself openly with a large group of people. I’m known for normalizing tough conversations or things people don’t usually talk about openly. I’m most proud of the team that works with me. I come up with a lot of unique ideas to get messages across. My team does a great job of bringing this to life. So a huge thanks to Cameron Houston and Vince Charals! I think the one thing that sets me apart from others is how open I am to collaborating. I love partnering with others and getting a message out that speaks for both of us. So let’s partner up on a project!

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Fail fast, but fail on a foundation. Build a foundation of what you believe in and how you want to live. Then take on a lot of risks and fail. A lot of us fail without a foundation and that’s what keeps us feeling like we can’t reach our goals or pull off the idea. Also, social media is necessary. But you have to realize that since our consumption has increased so should your production. A lot of people are a bit too attached to what their perfect 9 square looks like. People just starting might be timid positing. But it’s critical to understand that production should match consumption in this space! So produce produce produce. Learn from the mistakes quickly. Have a good group of people around for feedback. Delegate as much as possible. You want to empower people to reach their full potential. Lastly, be ok with things not being exactly how you imagined. Showing progress is actually appealing!
