Today we’d like to introduce you to Luis Yanez.
Luis, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
My passion for photography began when my first son was born in 1996. I started off with a film camera and continued shooting with film for about six years. It truly started off as a hobby (an expensive one by the way because film was costly). I bought my first digital camera in 2008 and began to do free photo shoots, begging people to let me shoot them. As I perfected my craft, I gradually learned more and upgraded my equipment, all of which helped me shift the focus of my subjects from family and friends to clients and more professional-like shoots.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I enjoy capturing the moments that will always be remembered by the people, such as their weddings, senior portraits, and even helping aspiring models build their portfolio. When I take pictures, I hope people feel the magnitude of their accomplishments and see themselves in a way they never have. Every time I take a picture, I put all of my effort into it, it’s something I genuinely enjoy doing.
Artists face many challenges, but what do you feel is the most pressing among them?
I think the biggest challenge for artists would be not making advancements and running out of passion and creativity for doing something you love.
