Today we’d like to introduce you to Maurice Maffia.
Maurice, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I creates my abstract pieces in my home studio in Oak Point, TX, a suburb of Dallas, TX where I currently live. I get my inspiration from nature, family, everyday life and my extensive travel while serving in the United States Army. Originally from Manhattan, New York where I studied at the Art Institute of New York. My work has been held in private galleries in Denver, CO, Los Angeles, CA and currently in Denton Texas.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I create abstract art, oil on canvas and acrylic art. I see things in an imaginative way. Hopefully, the brilliant colors and geometric shapes I produce will inspire and intrigue others to look at them differently. Through my art I try to expand others imagination.
Do current events, local or global, affect your work and what you are focused on?
I think artist should be more engaged in what is going on in the world today. I don’t think the role of the artist has changed. Artist are to always find beauty. The local, national and international events motivates me to focus on the positive and not let it change the colors of the beauty of life.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
