Amanda, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Adam and I grew up in Oklahoma, met at OU and moved to Fort Worth, TX after we married. We have 3 amazing teens & have always dreamed of owning a cabin in the woods of SE OK where I grew up. We wanted a place to escape & connect as a family, especially during the teen years when we need a strong family connection more than ever.
When we stumbled across Carlton Landing & then The Lodge, it felt like home. It’s the “cabin” we always wanted, but in the middle of the most family-friendly community that offers all we need to spend quality time with our kids.
Family’s that play and laugh together STAY together, so we’ve stocked The Lodge with all you’ll need to have fun at home and around CL. There’s always more tasks to complete- I love that CL helps me remember that people matter most. Our time at Carlton Landing has blessed our family more than we ever imagined and we hope it does the same for yours!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The process has had its challenges. Although Carlton Landing has existed for 15 years, it’s still in its infancy in terms of popularity and name recognition—even in Tulsa, which is only an hour away! So, I’ve created resources like the All Things Carlton Landing podcast and the CL Travel Guide to help build that name recognition. I’m also producing beautiful content on my Lodge Instagram account and partnering with other self-managing hosts to equip them with the tools they need to elevate their marketing game.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I self-manage our vacation rental home, The Lodge on Twinkle Lane, in Carlton Landing, Oklahoma. I create social media content to promote the property, partner with influencers to highlight its unique features, and coordinate with our caretaker to ensure it’s clean and fully functional for every guest. I also designed and maintain our website, continually adding resources to improve our online visibility and attract new guests.
The Lodge on Twinkle Lane is a 4-bedroom, 3.5-bath vacation home in Carlton Landing, Oklahoma—a Rosemary Beach–inspired resort community nestled in the hills of southeast Oklahoma on Lake Eufaula.
While most homes in Carlton Landing feature a coastal aesthetic, The Lodge offers a warm blend of lodge comfort and French farmhouse charm. Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I have found Jodi Bourne’s STR Instagram & podcast resources very helpful as I learned an entirely new industry. I also loved Mark Simpson’s Boostly books & Heather Bayer’s “Vacation Rental Success” podcast.
