Today we’d like to introduce you to Amrita Kapoor.
Hi Amrita, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
My name is Amrita Kapoor, and I finished my Nursing degree in 2013 in India. I always felt the hospital job was not for me, so I started looking for something more and ended up working with a dermatologist. I started feeling how passionate I was with skin treatments and was building lifelong relationships with my clients. Throughout 2014-2019, I worked with great dermatologists and plastic surgeons and learnt chemical peels, lasers, and trichology.
I relocated to Dallas in 2019 after my marriage and started looking for opportunities in skin Industry.
I finished my aesthetician license and started working at Laseraway as an aesthetic representative. I was awarded as one of their top student while in training. I knew within me that I needed to perform procedures and services myself, as I was passionate about helping people with their skin.
I finished my laser tech license, and currently, I work at HushMedspa in Frisco. I have had a great opportunity to work with companies like Cynosure, ZO, PCA, Elta Md, Cartessa aesthetics, etc.
I also got the chance to treat NFL player Charvarius Ward, as well as player Paul Arriola from Dallas Cowboys.
My specialty lies in preventative anti-aging and corrective lasers, and I love what I do.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I did find a huge difference between the skin industry in India and US. For instance, we only have cosmetologists in India, whereas here we have subdivisions like Esthetician, Laser technician, Lash Technician, etc. It took me a while to figure out what I really needed to certify in order to start working.
Being a nurse, many people question me why I don’t work in the hospital to earn more, but my passion has been always more important to me than the paycheck.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have extensive experience in different types of Lasers, which gives me the advantage of practicing on different skin types with different lasers safely. I believe in taking care of my clients and giving them my honest opinions, and I am very well known within my profession that I am a patient advocate, and I would say ‘no’ to my clients when needed.
What do you think about happiness?
Seeing my clients happy with their results and same thing adding so much more confidence and joy to their lives is totally my job satisfaction. I feel like skin is the biggest organ and serves so many bodily functions, and sometimes we don’t do enough to take care of it. Making my clients understand that I can help them with their stubborn acne scars or fine lines and treating them makes me most happy!
