Check Out Ana Torres’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Torres.

Hi Ana, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I consider myself a champion for women. I grew up with four older sisters, who were my biggest champions and cheerleaders throughout my life. I want to create an atmosphere that is safe for women who can grow and glow. My mother was a single mom raising seven kids in urban Dallas. She did it with the help of lots of prayer and faith, but there was also a lot of women surrounding her that lifted her up in prayer but also helped her in any way that she needed.

I started my career of championing women through cosmetology. One day I was getting ready for my birthday party with my best friends and one of my best friends needed help with her make-up and her styling to go out for my birthday. I felt like it was the greatest gift given to me that I could style her and put her makeup on. And when I saw the way she looked at herself after I was finished with her makeup, I will never forget that. She looked at herself like she had never seen herself like that before it was then that I knew I wanted to do makeup for women to enhance their natural beauty.

I worked as a makeup artist, helping women feel and look their best by enhancing their natural features. Every time they look in the mirror, they were awestruck at their own beauty.

Additionally, I started working as a direct sales for an online cosmetics and fashion brand. I was very successful so much that the company I worked for flew me to New York first class a couple of times for national sales meetings, and I became a regional manager.

I loved that time in my life. I started doing home parties and helping women look and feel their best.

I have always been a creative, creating YouTube videos, showing people how to put on their own makeup and style themselves.

I love style and fashion. Every day I would post what I was wearing on my Instagram, and I started making reels about my “analog” which is my outfit of the day. People really started responding well to it and seeing the way I styled myself, and that made it easy for them to feel confident in their own skin and take risks in their styling as well.

Jump to where I am in my life right now; I work as a Sales Executive at an Alamo Title Company. I help Realtors grow their business. I specialize in digital marketing for real estate agents to help them grow their online business so that they could close at my title company.

It gives me great joy to help people grow their business, grow their social media following, and become the successful business owners that they are. Naturally, my clients end up being mostly women, and I absolutely love that. As women, we can truly do it all and look great while doing it.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has definitely been a challenge to remember that sometimes you could be the best juiciest pear and somebody might not like pears. Rejection is very common in my industry, and that was very hard for me to work through. Because I reach out to people daily to try to work with them, sometimes they are not open to that help. I have to remember that I am still valuable, and they just missed out on me helping them.

Also, putting yourself on social media is a scary, and sometimes you can get negative feedback. But I remind myself that I’m not for everyone, and those who do appreciate me make it worth it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I work at Alamo Title Company. I am the business development and sales executive. My job is to seek real estate agents to bring contracts to close at my office. We work with buyers and sellers that are going through escrow to purchase their home. My specialty is digital marketing I love to help real estate agents with their online presence and digital branding so that they can grow their business and we can close their business.

What’s sets me apart from others is my creativity and continual quest for knowledge to learn more every day about how I can help other people grow their business.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I am absolutely a risk-taker! Every time I call someone to partner with them, I’m taking a risk that they can say no. As I say, I always shoot my shot. Sometimes I miss, but sometimes I score.

The way in which I got my current position was a risk in itself as well. My sister called me during the summer one day and asked me if I can help her with a backlog of files at her office. I am always available to help, so I said yes, and little did I know the president of the company was there that day. He saw me working and asked to chat with me for a bit. Little did I know that chat would lead to a job offer, and without consulting my husband, I leaped at the opportunity.

Leaving my current position in the middle of a pandemic was definitely a risk. But I am so glad I did it, and I haven’t looked back since.

Creating content online for other people to see and Judge is also taking risks as well.
