Today we’d like to introduce you to Ann Akins.
Ann, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always loved fashion and decided to start my own company about 8 years ago selling fashion clothes and accessories which is DH Fashionshop. Fast forward: I had an idea to get into customizing clothing and to learn how to sew. November 2020, I was put into the hospital and admitted into ICU.
I remember thinking I haven’t did everything I wanted to do in life… And said if I make it through this, I’m going to do everything I always wanted to do and travel as much as possible. I was released from the hospital after a few weeks, and I remained in and out the hospital for months…A lot of people never knew what was going on. I was 39 and on a walker, Not being mobile much I learned how to sew and I got better and better. I started a second company which is Fashion Junkie Club.

December 2021, I posted a Camo Jacket I customized for 50-cent DJ Ambassador DJ Kayotik, and my talent was noticed.
Today I now run both DHFashionshop and Fashion Junkie Club, and I’m traveling as much as I can.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?

I design and customize clothing, and I love it! I’m known for my Camo Jackets…
I create one-of-a-kind jackets for clients which sets me apart from most.
I’m proud because I never let that setback of being sick kill my dream…I kept going!
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Live your life to the fullest! Set a goal and crush it! Never look back unless you are looking to see how far you come.
