Check Out Ashley Rose’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Rose.

Hi Ashley, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always been into music. My love for live music really started when I lived in Minnesota and worked for SIMshows in college. For a side gig to keep me sane, I was a music journalist and photographer that would love to travel around the country to shoot and write about festivals. After I graduated, I moved to Dallas in 2015 for my career and didn’t know anyone, so naturally, I gravitated toward the music scene. Since attending live music events is my favorite thing to do, I started going to concerts around Dallas and making friends. Eventually, within a year, I started working at Stereo Live, a well-known EDM concert venue in Dallas. All of this is how I met some of my best friends and business partners today. Since then, I’ve thrown my own events and shows under The Rose Agency and in 2020, I joined the Wide Awake Entertainment (@wide_awake_ent) team— both are event planning, marketing, and promotions companies.

Together we have thrown electronic shows in the Dallas and Lubbock area. A new project we have is called Safe Space (@safe_space_dfw) a music therapy event at The Nines in Dallas. Our next show is on June 2nd featuring Evalution.

We started this collective to create a Safe Space for anyone in the music scene and industry who not only wanted, but needed a place to be themselves without fear of judgment, with an emphasis on mental health, wellness, and music. At Safe Space, we have things such as vendors, and an ever-updating list of resources for our attendees, such as therapy for $30 per session without insurance through Open Path Collective— a service many people don’t know about. I am always looking for companies who want to collaborate on new projects that benefit the people and community.

As a separate project from Safe Space, I am working with my DFW Socialites partner Katrina Torrey, and friend Allison Johnston Frizzo from Ladies in CRE on “The Barking Project” a dog adoption event in the heart of Dallas at Griggs Park.

The Barking Project started as Allison and Emily’s vision and they curated a team of highly intelligent, determined, and amazing women which includes Allison, Emily Hoffman, Katrina Torrey, Kate Gardner, Kira Valentino, and Lauren Preola. This amazing group of women make everything possible.

With the help from our sponsors, multiple shelters and rescues were able to bring dogs out to Griggs Park on April 9th, where there was food, music by Kalico Jak (@kalico_jak), Pet photography by Dallasites101 photography, and lots of pet vendors! It was a huge success and most of the dogs were adopted! Like I said, we couldn’t have done this without the amazing team and our sponsors who believed in us to make this happen for the pups. We are always looking to partner with others for future Barking Project events. So if you’re interested in collaborating, please reach out!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been far from smooth and has had its ups and downs, especially during COVID. But with the talented teams of people I work with, it has made the road so much easier and fun than working alone.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m an environmental scientist by day, photographer, writer, event planner, and dog mom by night.

I’ve always been in the field of helping others, whether it be my day job as an environmental scientist, or throwing events that somehow enhance and help the community. My next project I’m working on is my book that focuses on Prose Poetry, which will tie in my love for mental health, wellness, and helping others going through this journey of life.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?

  1. One small act really can change a life and the world, don’t let anyone tell you differently.
  2. Celebrate the small wins in life, no matter what they are.
  3. You are your greatest investment.
