Today we’d like to introduce you to Austin Ekhator.
Hi Austin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My Story started back in Nigeria going to college to study Arts and Design. Art brought happiness to me specifically painting landscapes. Through Landscape painting, I develop an interest in photography. I love to see people’s reaction when their photo is captured, most especially at an event when people are having fun. With picture, a moment can freeze in time and the reaction I get when they see their photos brings me joy. I believe I photo can turn a sad moment into a joyful moment for a long time I took pictures for fun with friends and family. Today my passion for photography has developed into videography. I do both simultaneously sometimes and this brings more joy. Being able to tell a story in both still and motion brightens people’s day. Shooting for fun helps me focus, and making people happy makes me happy. I believe photography is light to people’s minds.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not really. Because I was shooting for fun, more like working for free. My road to pro wasn’t challenging. I learn from mistakes and willing for people to tell me if they didn’t like my work. This helps me learn more and learn from my mistakes
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I work full-time for Whataburger as an Operating partner. I manage about 60 employees in Greenville Dallas TX. I specialize in training and developing people. More like building future leaders. I am known for great customer service. I am proud of being able to work full-time managing a unit and being able to do something I love very well which is Photography. What sets me apart is my striving for the very best and my willingness to take both constructive and non-constructive criticism. Also learning from my mistake.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
My kids, helping others and knowing that I am able to give them what I didn’t have growing up in Nigeria. Why? Because it feels good to help others who don’t have.
