Today we’d like to introduce you to Bashar Almudhafar.
Hi Bashar, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Back in 2010, my journey started when I left my homeland toward USA. I wanted a better life, safer place, and a bright future for my family. I open my first restaurant in 2012 was called (kababchi) but unfortunately, things didn’t go well as I expected coz I didn’t had that much experience here even though I had two restaurants in my country but here, things are way different. Anyway, I end up selling it and started working for other people to get the experience that I need to make my dream come true which is opening my own place making my Iraqi traditional food with the original recipe from my mom and grandma, and here we go “Fattoush “.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s not that smooth road, of course, especially when we had no help and we had to work more than 16 hours every day besides taking care of our two little girls. And then the shut down because of the coronavirus that’s all made us struggled along the way
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
So our Restaurant serves Mediterranean food especially Iraqi traditional recipes and we used Iraqi spices that sometimes we have to bring them from overseas and I am so proud that people love this taste and that what makes us different.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important thing is to keep the same taste and good quality of the food we serve.
