Today we’d like to introduce you to Brentney Prince.
Hi Brentney, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always had a passion for hair and wigs in particular. As a young girl, I’d play in my grandmother’s wigs. As I became a teen and young adult, wigs weren’t really a “thing” for my age group…yet (early 2000s) wigs were still considered an old lady thing, lol. However, I’d go to the hair stores and play around trying on the different styles and eventually began to purchase and wear them. (I took my Senior pictures in a wig lol). Throughout the years, wigs started to become popular for young adults, and with the rise of social media, I seen that people were constructing their own, and I thought to myself, “I can do that!” and that’s what I did, I started, of course by hand stitching wigs until I felt confident in my skill and because I’ve always had an entrepreneurial mindset, I knew that I wanted to start a business creating custom and premade wigs. I also knew that I wanted to be of service and assist in enhancing the natural beauty of my perspective clients. It’s always been about the craft and service for me, not just the money. The biggest gratification is seeing my clients excited, confident and overall “feeling themselves” after they receive and install their unit(s). I came up with the name Priceless Princy because the quality, customer service, and my genuine desire to meet my client’s needs are “Priceless” and “Princy” (meaning, a girl born into Royalty) being a play on my last name, Prince.” I created my 1st website using Big Cartel, lol, and began to promote my work and business on social media; people started to notice and take interest in my business and began to grow.
The Priceless Princy Motto is “Be Beautiful Inside and Out.”
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has definitely been a bump road. Entrepreneurship is not for the weak!… Especially in the beauty industry and my lane (wigs) specifically is extremely saturated.
My biggest struggle was diving into business with no guidance, mentorship or experience in actually running a business and marketing. Everything I’ve learned about was by researching and a lot of trial and error. Also, funding everything out of pocket, loans or grants… that’s rough.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in creating natural-looking, glueless wigs.
Glueless Wigs are what I’m most known for.
My goal is to mesh natural-appearing, low-maintenance, high-quality wigs. I think I’ve been able to marry those aspects beautifully.
What are your plans for the future?
I look forward to continuing to grow, expand, and connect with not only clients but also other entrepreneurs. Making connections and learning are big for me right now.
I’m currently doing minor rebranding, product and policy changes.
