Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Evans.

Brittany Evans

Hi Brittany, thanks for joining us today. Can you walk us through your story of how you started and how you got to where you are today in your business?
I have always been drawn to the things that can make a great photograph; composition, color, and light. But what I am most drawn to when it comes to photography is truth, goodness and beauty. Photographs have a way of telling a story, capturing something that could have been overlooked, and reminding us of the joy before our very faces and the graces we are given day after day. I have been picking up a camera as a hobby for over two decades. I remember my husband and my first trip to Greece in the early 2000’s and I wanted every beautiful thing captured, so I could share in that joy with others and remember all of the beauty there. When I became a mom, almost a decade and a half ago, I found myself grasping to capture every milestone that I could, as I knew that time was fleeting and truly a gift I was given. I grew to love photography more and more, and found myself enjoying those candid moments that evoked a smile, even from the curious onlooker. I love photography because it points us to something we cannot take credit for. What I hope to accomplish when I pick up my camera is to make God’s story known through His people, showing glimpses of His grace, love and mercy one photo at a time. Most of my work is capturing people and occasionally, beautiful places with my favorite people. My hope for my work is to display God’s beauty and the joy that only His son could bring, and what a privilege it is to share in these moments with others.

My husband and I are native Texans. We started traveling the Lone Star State (and beyond) not that long ago in our small camper, with our crew of seven, which includes, our four awesome kids, and our energetic Golden Retriever. You can find us often cheering on our kids at their sports events, hanging out with our church family, or getting outdoors whenever we can.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the greatest struggles for me when it comes to pursuing photography is time. As much as I love photography, and as great as it is, it is not my main priority. Motherhood will always come first to this little side-gig. I know the pictures I take won’t last forever, but the souls I’ve been entrusted with will. Whatever time is left to pick up my camera and make time for others, I count as bonus work to the main work I’ve been called to.

This quote from Ecclesiastes helps me put things in perspective; “He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live & also that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil—this is God’s gift to man.”
– Ecclesiastes 3:11-13

And a quote from a favorite author of mine.
“Everything old people say about time is true. For starters, it flies. As a kid living through semi-eternal summer vacations, this is hard to believe. But as an adult? Get married. Have children. And then sit back, stunned, watching an absolute roar of gorgeous moments and hilarious moments and exhausting moments disappear—quickly and in tragedy or marching off at the traditional pace, but disappear they must.”
– N.D. Wilson, Death By Living: Life is Meant to be Spent

Time is meant to be a struggle on this earth, in hopes that it points us to what is lasting.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Back in my day, I was an elite gymnast. It’s where I first learned to notice detail. I got to travel the world at a young age and really enjoyed searching for the beauty around me. I do think this helped shape me as a photographer, many years later. I love people, and working with people is a true joy that makes this job so special to me. I am a natural light photographer who serves the DFW area, including Frisco, McKinney, Prosper, Celina, Plano, Allen, Lucas, Fairview, & Dallas. Natural light photography is something magical and I love photographing at dawn or dusk or in the comfort of your own home.
I offer child, senior, lifestyle & family photography.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Capturing real moments that help tell your story and capturing moments of pure joy.
