Check Out Chase Schurga’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chase Schurga.

Hi Chase, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My career has never exactly followed a traditional path.

It actually started when I was younger, making YouTube videos under the name CopyAndChase. Back when nobody knew what a “content creator” was and YouTube was basically just a website where you could watch a guy fall off a skateboard, I decided, “Yeah, I should probably put myself on here.”

I made videos, tried to make people laugh, and generally had no idea what I was doing. I even got to host a YouTube gathering at Universal Studios where over 100 people attended. Somehow, that turned out to be excellent preparation for the rest of my career.

Eventually, I got into sales, where I learned how to talk to just about anybody, build relationships, handle rejection, and convince people that whatever I was selling was definitely worth listening to. It turns out those skills are surprisingly useful when your long-term career goal is basically “get people to pay attention to me.”

But I never really gave up on entertainment.

Then, because apparently YouTube and sales weren’t enough, I ended up on television with an appearance on Chrissy Teigen’s Chrissy’s Court.

Today, I’ve continued building around what I’ve apparently been doing since I was a kid: entertaining people, creating content, talking to strangers, and turning completely normal situations into something unnecessarily funny.

That eventually led me to Wingman Of The Year, where I get to combine entertainment, dating, live events, social media, and my lifelong qualification of being willing to talk to pretty much anyone.

So when I look back at the career of Chase Schurga, there really isn’t a straight line.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
If you told the kid who was making stupid YouTube videos under the name CopyAndChase that one day those videos would be the beginning of an actual career, I probably would’ve laughed at you.

Back then, I wasn’t thinking about building a career. I wasn’t thinking about networking, branding, entrepreneurship, or any of the other words people use when they want to make something sound way more organized than it actually is.

I just liked making people laugh.

I liked being in front of a camera. I liked coming up with ridiculous ideas. And, honestly, I liked the attention.

There were plenty of times when I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. Projects didn’t work. Videos didn’t get views. Ideas I thought were going to be huge went nowhere. And there were plenty of moments when I wondered whether I was wasting my time.

When you’re trying to build something before anyone else believes in it, it’s easy to question yourself.

Then there was sales. Sales taught me how to communicate, how to handle rejection, and how to keep going when someone basically tells you, “Absolutely not, please leave me alone.”

It also gave me stability while I continued trying to figure out the entertainment side of my life.

At that point, my career had officially gone from “I make YouTube videos” to “I genuinely don’t know what my job title is anymore.”

And that’s probably been the hardest part of the entire journey.

I’ve had to keep believing in myself during periods when there wasn’t much evidence that I should.

I’ve had to deal with rejection, failed ideas, slow growth, uncertainty, and the temptation to compare myself to people who seemed to figure everything out much faster than I did.

There were times I wanted the easy answer.

There were times I wondered if I should just forget about creating things altogether and stick with the safe route.

But I kept coming back to the same thing I’ve been doing since I was that kid making videos as CopyAndChase:

I wanted to entertain people. I wanted to create something of my own. And I wanted to see how far I could actually take it.

Looking back, none of it was perfectly planned.

It was a bunch of weird ideas, unexpected opportunities, failures, second chances, questionable decisions, and a stubborn refusal to completely give up.

Basically, I didn’t really have a career plan.

I just keep accidentally building one.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an entertainer, content creator, and digital media personality specializing in comedy, storytelling, hosting, and creating engaging experiences.

I started on YouTube as CopyAndChase and have since worked across podcasts, television, social media, live events, and digital media companies.

I’m known for my personality, being able to connect with just about anyone, and not taking myself too seriously. I’m comfortable behind a microphone, in front of a camera, on stage, or approaching a complete stranger.

I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve never stopped creating, even when things didn’t work out or I wasn’t sure where the next opportunity would come from.

What sets me apart is that I don’t fit neatly into one box. I can sell, entertain, host, create, and connect with people and I’ve built a career by turning my personality into something people want to watch and be part of.

What matters most to you? Why?
Family above everything. Family is what got me to where I am, and at the end of the day is all you really have.
