Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Milstead Jr.
Hi Michael, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hello, I’m Chef Michael Jr., and I’m a celebrity chef. I started cooking when I was very young. I didn’t really push to become a Chef because I wanted to become a Bank Teller.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Becoming a Chef is hard. Knowing that everyone has to eat, but you want to include the best food. Healthiest food, and the Quality of the food to be top tier. It’s a very competitive market. I would say it’s been challenging for me throughout this process. From being homeless to fighting cancer, you really find out who is really with you throughout the process…
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a Celebrity Chef/ Caterer. I specialize in Modern American, Fusion, and Italian. I’m known for my Crab Cakes with a lemon beurre blanc. And Oscar Style Filet With Blue Crab. I’m very proud of what I accomplished. I’m proud of the way I never gave up and always kept my eyes on the prize of making my clients happy, and my grandfather especially. I know he’s looking down on me every day. I feel like my attitude, attention to detail, and understanding sets me apart from any Chef/ Individual. I care so much for people, and through my cooking it makes me feel connected with whom I’m cooking for. The conversation, smiles, and laughter makes it all worthwhile.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out.
My advice would have to be the key 5 things:
• Pay Attention
• Be prepared and organized
• Be Curious
• Have Rules
• Practice and enjoy the journey
I was self-taught for the longest until I went to a French Culinary Institute. The journey of both worlds are amazing, I wouldn’t change anything.
