Today we’d like to introduce you to China Marie.
Hi China, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hi, my name is China Marie, I am a freelance model, a multi-published model for BabeWatch, and a music video vixen, just about 2 years ago in Austin Texas. I started to get back into modeling and through that, I started to become interested in what was happening on the other side of the camera and in the community. I began dabbling with Instagram models/Casting Calls, I slowly fell in love with Instagram and wanted to find other ways how to connect with other photographers and fashion shows. I made the decision to pursue this passion of being a freelance model and shooting with more and more people so that I could build my portfolio and network with people. I am doing things that I thought I could never do. now all I do is a model, collaborations, and car show and I could not be any happier. The sky is the limit, go for it.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
A year in a half ago, I lost my dad, my best friend, and a couple of months ago my brother. it has been a very long road for me dealing with the loss of my family and has pushed me, even more, to succeed with my dreams and I would go even harder to make them proud. My dad always said to me “to always have a backup plan and to succeed and never give up on something I love ” and that has made me go to college, even though I enjoy modeling and meeting new people through the industry my education comes first and has been very hard at times balancing school and modeling I still get it done no matter the finals being hard I still go to class.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am known for working hard as an independent model and music videos. My most proud work was being a girl scout at the age of 8 years old till the leader ambassador level and learning cool techniques I could use as an independent woman if I am ever stuck in the woods or just in general. Having experience in modeling and girl scouts has given me a unique skill to be very outgoing and communicative about what I want more clearly and understand how directly I want others to view me. I love capturing a moment where I am surrounded by good energy and having a great team in the modeling business. I believe my appearance is what separates me from others. I also like to keep my photos as natural as possible when I shoot with photographers so that if any collabs or photographers want to work with me they will see my natural beauty. By working with other photographers, I know how I want my photos to come out and what angles I primarily think fit best for me.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I feel as though the luck that has played in my life has been good but somewhat bad since I am a freelance model and the loss of my family did take me a break from my modeling career. Whenever things get worse or unprofessional, I tend to stay away or stop conversating. Things always work out whether it happens quickly or not. Patience is key.
