Today we’d like to introduce you to Chloe Nguyen.
Chloe , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
From a Suitcase to Sold Signs: My Journey to the American Dream
Back home in Vietnam, my parents gave up everything to give me and my three sisters a chance at a better future. They filled our childhood with love, even when we were apart. Every single day, they called just to check in, just to remind us we were not alone.
When I was just seven, we moved from our small hometown to Ho Chi Minh City so we could attend better school. My sisters and I were only five, seven, ten, and twelve years old. My older sister cooked for us. It was very different from American culture—kids that young aren’t typically left on their own. But we were. We lived independently while our parents stayed behind to work and send money. Sometimes our aunt would visit to help, but most of the time, it was just the four of us. Kids raising kids. We went to school, studied hard, and took care of one another. My sister and I rode our bikes to school every day.
Our parents had a dream. They believed that if their daughters could get an education, we could live a better life. That belief guided every decision they made. And somehow, through all the challenges, they managed to send all four of us to college. As their business grew and blessings followed, they began investing in real estate. That’s when I first saw what real estate could do.
My dad, who has one of the kindest hearts I know, gave away a third of his income to help others through charity.
For me, studying was never just about ambition. It was my way of saying thank you. It was how I honored the sacrifices that paved the road I was walking. That mindset—rooted in discipline, purpose, and gratitude—still drives me today.
At twenty-two, I came to the United States with a student visa, a suitcase, and a heart full of uncertainty. I didn’t know anyone. I couldn’t speak English fluently. At the grocery store, the only phrase I understood was “How are you?” I smiled and nodded, silently hoping no one would say more. I couldn’t follow conversations, but because I had studied grammar back in Vietnam, I could read. That gave me a lifeline.
I had already earned a business degree, so I enrolled in an MBA transfer program at the University of South Florida, thinking business would be my future. But I quickly realized that without experience, a network, or strong communication skills, breaking into the business world as an immigrant was nearly impossible.
So I pivoted.
I applied to dental hygiene school. I was the only international student in the program. My professors often couldn’t understand me. One even admitted she didn’t fully catch my English until the final months of school. But by then, I had earned her respect through my work ethic and determination.
In my final semester, I started getting sick. My hands began shaking, and no one could figure out why. After months of uncertainty, I was finally diagnosed with a thyroid condition. My thyroid levels had dropped to zero.
But I didn’t stop.
Despite the fear and pain, I graduated at the top of my class, holding both the Clinical Excellence Award and the Oral Surgeon Award in my hands.
I went on to work for a corporate dental office, and I truly loved my patients. I worked hard. I showed up. I built trust. But even behind the steady schedule and paycheck, another dream followed me like a quiet shadow.
Real estate.
Back in college, I would stay up late reading every book by Brandon Turner and watching BiggerPockets videos like they were my personal playbook. I didn’t just want to work for a living. I wanted freedom. I wanted ownership. I wanted to build something of my own.
But I was scared. Real estate felt uncertain. Risky. My father’s voice stayed with me: make sure you can take care of yourself first. So I waited.
Eventually, I stepped away from the corporate world and opened my own dental contracting business. It was terrifying. There were no guarantees just my name, my reputation, and my relentless drive. I drove all over Dallas-Fort Worth, working six days a week, building a client base from the ground up. While other contractors waited for work, I was booked four to five months out.
But again, my body couldn’t keep up with the pace.
My back started aching constantly. My hands trembled again. Years of nonstop effort had taken a toll. I went from one doctor to another until they confirmed it: my thyroid was flaring up again.
That diagnosis forced me to pause. And sometimes, the pause is what saves you.
It gave me the clarity to finally pursue what had always been in my heart—real estate. No backup plan. No guarantees. Just faith and the courage to begin again.
The early days were brutal. I handed out over a thousand magnet calendars in parking lots. I walked into builder offices cold, filming homes on my phone. I went to networking events where I didn’t know a single soul. I stayed up late editing videos, following up with every lead, and learning on the fly.
There was no roadmap. Just the quiet voice in my head whispering, keep going.
So I did.
I’m not the smartest in the room. I never have been. But I am relentless. If I don’t know something, I find the answer. If I fail, I try again. I didn’t come to this country to play it safe. I came here to build a life I could be proud of.
Now, I get to help others do the same. Whether it’s their first home, an investment property, or building generational wealth, I walk with them through it all. I use everything I’ve learned from the discipline of my past career to the empathy I carry from my own journey to fight hard for my clients. I guide them with honesty, protect their interests, and negotiate like I would for my own family. Whether they’re buying their first home or selling to start a new chapter, I make sure they feel seen, supported, and confident every step of the way.
And if there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s this:
We grow when we are willing to walk alone.
We win when we refuse to quit.
And everything you’ve ever wanted is waiting for you on the other side of fear.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Absolutely not and honestly, I wouldn’t want it to be. Every bump along the way has shaped who I am and how I show up for my clients.
I came to the U.S. young, without much, and watched my parents sacrifice everything so their daughters could have a better life. I worked hard, put myself through school, and landed a job in healthcare. I thought that was my version of “success,” but behind the scenes, I was burning out. My back pain got so bad I had to take six months off just to recover. That time forced me to pause and really think about what I wanted.
Starting over in real estate wasn’t easy either. I had no connections, no mentor, no clue where to begin. Just grit, a deep love for helping people, and a mindset that failure wasn’t an option. I faced language barriers, cultural differences, and self-doubt. There were months when nothing closed. But I kept showing up, kept learning, and kept serving with heart.
Now every challenge I faced from being an immigrant student to rebuilding my career helps me understand my clients better. Especially those who feel lost or overwhelmed buying a home in a new country. I’ve been there. And that’s why I fight for them like family.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a real estate agent specializing in the Dallas-Fort Worth market, and what truly sets me apart is that I get things done. I believe in showing results rather than just talking a lot. My clients appreciate that I’m direct, reliable, listening on their needs and focused on delivering real outcomes whether that’s finding the perfect home, securing a great investment deal, selling their home quickly, or closing transactions smoothly and efficiently.
No matter how hard or complicated the situation may be, I will always find a solution for my clients . With my background as an immigrant and experience building a career from the ground up, I understand the challenges my clients face and am committed to making their journey easier and more successful. I listen carefully, plan strategically, and work tirelessly behind the scenes so my clients don’t have to worry. The results speak for themselves.
At the end of the day, I’m proud that my reputation is built on action, honesty, and results, not just promises.
What matters most to you?
Love and kindness matter most to me. I believe we only live one life, and it’s a beautiful journey to build a family rooted in love while also being kind, genuine, and caring toward others.
