Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Post.
Hi Chris, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Elite Concrete Solutions began in 2003, originally focused on poured foundations and flatwork within new residential community developments. Early on, we were presented with an opportunity to take on a stamped concrete project. That project was successful, and it opened the door to what would become a defining moment for our company—the discovery of decorative concrete.
As demand grew, we expanded beyond traditional gray concrete into stamped concrete, restoration, and a wide range of overlay systems, including stamped, aggregate, and micro overlays. From there, we moved into staining, dyeing, and polishing concrete, gaining experience on larger, more complex projects such as polished concrete work at El Rancho. These opportunities pushed us to continually learn and refine our craft, eventually leading us into precast and cast-in-place concrete countertops.
That progression naturally evolved into the artificial rock industry, which today is one of our primary areas of focus. While artificial rock and themed environments now represent a significant portion of our work, we remain a highly diversified company, continuing to specialize in architectural and decorative concrete across many applications.
What truly drove this evolution was not just opportunity, but passion. We were part of the early emergence of decorative concrete, and it sparked a love for transforming what is typically a bland, utilitarian material into something artistic and beautiful. That passion for art merged seamlessly with construction, and it shaped our commitment to quality and creativity. We genuinely care about our customers, and that care shows in the work we deliver.
One of the things that sets us apart is our ability to partner with clients from vision to reality. We don’t just build—we help create. Through 3D renderings, visual models, and in-space floor renderings, we collaborate closely with clients to bring their ideas to life. We often say that our only limits are our own imagination.
A major turning point for us came when artificial rock projects became the majority of our workload. Projects such as Waco Zoo, Boulder Adventure Park, large resort-style pool grottos and waterfalls, high-end residential properties, and community resort pools helped establish our reputation in this niche. Today, we work on projects of all sizes—from residential homeowners to large general contractors, parks, and zoological facilities.
Chris is deeply involved in every element of each project, ensuring that our work consistently exceeds expectations. Our reputation means everything to us. We believe in treating people the way we want to be treated—it really is that simple.
Looking ahead, our vision is to grow Elite Concrete Solutions into a national company, working across the United States rather than just Texas and surrounding areas. Most importantly, we hope to leave a lasting legacy for our children to carry forward. They’ve grown up alongside this business, learning our values, standards, and expectations, and we’re proud of the foundation we’re building—for both our company and our family.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like most growing businesses, our journey has not been a smooth or linear road. Many of our early challenges came from constantly evolving—learning new techniques, materials, and processes as decorative concrete itself was emerging. We were often learning in real time, investing in education, equipment, and trial-and-error to stay ahead of the curve.
Another major challenge was balancing craftsmanship with the realities of running a business. As our projects became larger and more complex, we had to quickly adapt to better systems, tighter scheduling, and stronger financial discipline while still maintaining the quality and creativity that define our work.
Cash flow was also a learning curve, especially with specialty concrete and artificial rock projects that require significant upfront labor and material costs. Managing growth responsibly while taking on high-profile, technically demanding work required careful planning and tough decisions.
One of the ongoing challenges has been educating clients and partners. Decorative concrete and artificial rock are highly specialized, and helping others understand the value, process, and long-term benefits of this type of work often takes time and clear communication.
Through all of this, our guiding principle has remained the same: quality, integrity, and treating people the way we want to be treated. Each challenge pushed us to refine our processes, strengthen our relationships, and grow into the company we are today.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Elite Concrete Solutions specializes in architectural and decorative concrete, with a strong focus on artificial rock, themed environments, and high-end specialty concrete applications. Our work ranges from residential projects to large-scale commercial, municipal, and zoological environments, including zoos, adventure parks, resort-style pool grottos, waterfalls, and community amenity spaces.
While artificial rock and immersive environments have become one of our primary specialties, we remain intentionally diversified. Our expertise includes decorative and stamped concrete, overlays and restoration systems, staining and polishing, precast and cast-in-place concrete countertops, and complex structural concrete elements. This breadth allows us to approach each project holistically and recommend the best solution—not just the most common one.
What we are most known for is our ability to take a concept and bring it fully to life. We collaborate closely with clients to shape the vision through 3D renderings, visual mockups, and in-space renderings, then execute that vision with precision in the field. We don’t just build concrete—we create experiences.
What sets us apart is the combination of artistry, technical skill, and care. Decorative concrete is both construction and art, and we treat it as such. Our team is deeply involved in every phase of a project to ensure quality, durability, and attention to detail. We take pride in delivering work that not only meets expectations but exceeds them.
What we are most proud of is our reputation. We’ve earned the trust of homeowners, general contractors, and large organizations because we do what we say we’ll do and treat people the way we want to be treated. The fact that we are entrusted with landmark projects—such as zoo exhibits, resort environments, and signature architectural features—is something we never take lightly.
At the end of the day, our goal is simple: to transform ordinary materials into something lasting, meaningful, and beautiful, while building relationships that stand just as strong as the work itself.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
One of the biggest pieces of advice we would give to anyone just starting out is to be patient and committed to learning. Mastering your craft takes time, and there are no shortcuts. Invest in education, practice, and understanding not just how to do the work, but why it’s done that way.
We also wish we had understood earlier how important the business side is. Being great at the trade alone isn’t enough—you have to learn pricing, cash flow, scheduling, contracts, and systems. Getting those foundations in place early can save a lot of stress later on.
Another important lesson is to value your work and price it accordingly. It’s easy in the beginning to underprice jobs just to get work, but quality craftsmanship, experience, and reliability have real value. The right clients will appreciate that.
Don’t be afraid to evolve. Some of our biggest growth came from saying yes to opportunities that pushed us out of our comfort zone and required us to learn new skills. Staying curious and adaptable opens doors you may not even see at the start.
Lastly, take care of your relationships—both with clients and with your team. Reputation is everything, and trust is built one project at a time. Treat people the way you want to be treated, stay honest, and stand behind your work. If you do that consistently, the rest will follow.
