Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris & Sara Clements.
Hi Chris & Sara, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
It all started in 2007 when Chris began tattooing. Sara spent the weekends traveling to Dallas to spend her weekends with him all while falling in love with the craft of the art industry. While Chris was hard at work Sara was never too far with a pencil in hand, practicing her skills so one day she could follow in Chris’s foot steps. After years of watching her Dad run successful shops and master his skill, Sara finally started her apprenticeship in 2020, at her Dads shop, Black Rabbit Society. This is where the fun truly began. Simultaneously during this time, Chris and Sara began painting together weekly, growing their partnership and cultivating two lanes that would eventually meet. 5 years later, Chris would have to split with his business partner of Black Rabbit, leading Chris and Sara to finally be met with building a business of their own. After many of late nights creating and brainstorming, Inkwell Arts Co was created. We wanted something that intertwined not only our love for painting, but for tattooing as well. In may of 2025 we opened Inkwell Tattoo.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Well, they say nothing good ever comes easy, so let’s just say things are going great.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We create exceptional visual art for the m(asses). We stay as fun and lighthearted as possible, giving the best possible vibe for anyone who makes their way around us. We’re not pirates, but we mainly do it for the booty. Get it? Whether it’s stretched skin or stretched canvas, we translate in the language of creativity for our clients. What sets us apart? We stay mysterious. Never let them know your next move, but you can find us at Inkwell Tattoo, 5440 E. Grand Ave, Suite 100, from Monday-Saturday. At night you can find us in the art studio painting.
We are most proud of our perseverance, talent, work ethic, and belief in each other.
We specialize in portraits of creatives, murals, screen printing, impressionism, and all things tattoo.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Both Chris and Sara have been artists since they grew fingers. Finding humor in the little things has always been a key part 0f their foundation, allowing a light heartedness to always be present when creating. Growing up, if we weren’t in the tattoo shop we were probably catching a concert or tagging a train. Always finding something to keep the creative juices flowing.
