Check Out Courtnie Brown’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtnie Brown.

Hi Courtnie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been someone who creates. What started as a creative outlet slowly became a way for me to stay grounded, express myself, and eventually connect with others who love handmade and thoughtfully curated things as much as I do.

Over time, crafting turned into more than just a hobby. I began experimenting, learning new skills, making mistakes, and finding my own style. I began mixing handmade pieces with thrifted treasures and a lot of personality. Sharing my work at markets and online helped me realize there was space for creativity that didn’t have to be perfect, just genuine.

Along the way, I balanced a full-time job, side hustles, and real life, learning that growth doesn’t have to be linear to be meaningful. Today, I’m proud to create pieces that feel fun, a little chaotic, and very much me. I’m grateful for every person who’s supported, shopped, or cheered me on along the way.

This journey has been about showing up, trying again, and embracing the magic that happens when creativity meets community.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not. My journey has been far from smooth. There were a lot of moments filled with trial and error, self-doubt, and learning things the hard way. Juggling a full-time job along with multiple side hustles often meant long days, very little downtime, and pushing through exhaustion more times than I probably should have.

Time management, burnout, and financial uncertainty were constant challenges. There were projects that didn’t turn out the way I envisioned, ideas that fell flat, and stretches where motivation was hard to find. It wasn’t always easy to keep going, especially when progress felt slow or inconsistent.

That said, every struggle taught me something important: how to adapt, how to set better boundaries, and how to trust my own growth. Those challenges shaped not just my work, but my resilience, and they played a huge role in getting me to where I am today.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My work lives at the intersection of creativity, craftsmanship, and personality. I create handmade pieces such as crochet and knit items, boho tops, and fairy mushroom decor, alongside thoughtfully curated thrifted finds. I love taking something simple or overlooked and turning it into something fun, functional, and full of character.

I’m especially known for my playful, slightly unconventional style and my willingness to lean into imperfection. Whether it’s handmade accessories, décor, or quirky gift items, my work is meant to feel approachable and personal, not mass-produced or overly polished. I enjoy experimenting with textures, colors, and ideas, which keeps my work evolving and unique.

What I’m most proud of is building this creatively while balancing real life, a full-time job, side hustles, and everything that comes with them. I didn’t wait for “perfect conditions” to start. I grew this slowly, honestly, and on my own terms.

What sets me apart is authenticity. I show the process, the chaos, the learning curves, and the wins. I create pieces that feel like they have a story, because they do, and I think people connect with that!

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that progress doesn’t have to be perfect or linear to be meaningful. For a long time, I thought I needed everything figured out before moving forward, but I’ve learned that growth comes from showing up consistently, even when things feel messy or uncertain.

I’ve also learned the value of trusting myself… my instincts, my creativity, and my pace. Comparing my journey to others only slowed me down. Once I focused on building something that felt true to me, everything became more sustainable and fulfilling.

Most importantly, I’ve learned that rest, boundaries, and balance aren’t weaknesses, they’re necessary! Taking care of myself has allowed me to create better work and enjoy the journey instead of just chasing the next milestone.
