Check Out Davarus Bell’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Davarus Bell.

Hi Davarus, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I moved here to Texas in 2017 from Starkville Mississippi to try and get a fresh start on life and etc. I started selling cars in August 2019 for a car dealership I will not name in this interview HAHAHA but I started there and I worked there for 3 months and it was the worst experience ever but it was an experience none the least. At the time I was in need of employment and I was working odd and end jobs to make money, so one day I went to the apple store and in the apple store I met the GSM of the dealership Dad. The GSM sat across from me and he asked me about the portable chargers and I offered some advice which resulted in him buying 2, so that’s when he said “Hey, you should sell cars”. I was like “I don’t know nothing about cars or selling cars”, and he said I got you. Long story short I went in for an interview and got the job, worked there for 3 months, and saw how they treated this old black lady and I quiet that same day. One month after leaving there I got a random call from a manager at Don Davis Auto Group (I Never Applied) asking am I still looking for a sales position at Don Davis Auto Group and the rest is history.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth ride HAHAHA. Country boy from Mississippi, growing up in the Hood crossing over into corporate America is TOUGH! It was the adjusting to this Bedford dry way of living that was the toughest part of my journey. I remember calling to wish a customer a happy birthday and instead of saying Hay-SOOS I said “Jesus” hahaha. I wasn’t accepted much going the first full year because I became a target, because I was selling more cars than my teammates and at a fast rate so the veterans were envious of me but that wasn’t a big challenge, it was easy to just lock in and make sure my customer had a great buying experience.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a rarity in my profession, I’m an automobile broker, not a car salesman. I don’t work off commission, and I have my own schedule (Appointment Only). The things that I specialize in are the same things that I’m known for. I specialize in customer service, and I believe that customer retention is very important to my success. People buy from people they like trust and want to do business with, so I make sure I always do the right thing and get customers the best deal and the best service. Since doing this since 2019 I’m most proud of the 1500 plus people I’ve helped get into vehicles and the transformation I’ve made since starting in the automobile industry. Allowing myself to grow mentally has allowed me to be a better salesman and if you combine that with the Mississippi work ethic, I have that sets me apart from anyone else in my profession. I work harder than most, I educate myself often, I’m coachable, I’m passionate, I’m determined, I practice good body language, I’m always on time, and I have high energy. ALL OF THE QUALITIES HELPED ME BE THE TOP 27th CAR SALESMAN IN THE STATE!

What are your plans for the future?
I plan on one-day hosting seminars teaching people how to purchase vehicles in their business name, and personal name. I feel that a lot of people aren’t educated in that field so I want to help teach and coach people on the pros and cons of each.
