Today we’d like to introduce you to Dee Mo.
Hi Dee, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Well I’ve loved comedy and acting all my life just never felt confident enough to go for it but when my grandma passed it gave fuel to my fire because she was a actress she played various roles the colored girls play, and Walker, Texas Ranger so it was like she’s with me on that stage and I just love making people laugh and things have been falling in place
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’ll tell you what it definitely has it’s days where the crowd looks at you like you better make me laugh fast and you definitely have to read the crowd but all and all it’s been a hell of ride in this 6 months of comedy but I love it and keep my fingers crossed I’ve haven’t been booed yet so that’s definitely a plus in my book
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Well what set me apart in comedy is I tell stories about my life what I’m going through what I’ve seen in my life time I’ve grown up in some rough circumstances but I’m not a victim it shaped me and my stories and I’ve always been a storyteller true or not but I always had ppl co-workers family members all tuned in so I took it as my gift
How do you think about luck?
I’m definitely lucky and grateful for some of DFWs funniest comedians to take me under their wing and show me the ropes and I can’t say it’s just luck it’s a blessing as well because in reality they didn’t have to do that for me my 6 months of comedy has been a hell of a blessing
