Today we’d like to introduce you to Delmy Cruz.
Hi Delmy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Truth is, I never imagined I’d be where I am today but I wouldn’t have it any other way. What began as a part-time job as a teen graduating high school, became the very source that would enable me to pay for my college living, books and expenses. Fast forward to today, being my full-time job and having a location in Dallas. My passion for makeup began very early on, from tagging along to makeup workshops with my mom. She has been working with health, skin care and beauty ever since I can remember. In fact, much of what I know is thanks to her. She also forms part of the Beauty by Delmy team as a makeup artist and esthetician.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Going on 12 years in the industry, by no means has it been a smooth road but definitely one worth showing up for. Just as I sit here today, I face one of my most rewarding challenges. Motherhood. Learning to be present in all aspects and slow down when necessary without loosing momentum. Overall, this field has grown so much over the years and it continues to evolve quickly. I recall when we first began taking clients, it would be me, and my parents. The dream team. And my dad would hold up a lightweight desk lamp for us through the duration of our service. Illuminating the areas we were working on as we went. All in all, through perseverance and passion, we’ve come a long way since.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in Bridal and Quinceañera Makeup but also provide makeup for just about any special occasion. My portfolio is diverse in looks ranging from neutral to dramatic, with a large focus on soft glams. Many of my clients like that they can look and feel like themselves but even more confident. I am most proud of my commitment and work ethic. People count on me during a once in a lifetime experience, one that will be photographed and live through generations. I can’t just call in and have someone else do my job for me. Additionally, I think one of the things that sets me apart from others is my heart. for as cliche as it may sound. I genuinely want the best for everyone and I make a conscious effort to understand each individual’s needs beyond makeup.
Any big plans?
I most definitely plan on growing our team and providing more services that go hand in hand. I’m always on the look out for individuals who are passionate about what they do and treat others with respect.
