Today we’d like to introduce you to Diane Vu.
Hi Diane, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born and raised in California, and while I’m not afraid to admit I moved from San Jose, I wouldn’t consider myself apart of the recent influx of Californians that came recently with the Austin tech migrations. Over 10 years ago, my father’s employer moved their company and he relocated our family. I was still attending University and living in the dorms in California when I met my husband- who was born in San Francisco but spent most of his later childhood in the UK and Dallas, even attending Jesuit Dallas High School, despite coming from a Methodist family. When we met I was attending Santa Clara University, so being the Cradle Catholic, I was so interested in his story, especially, when I learned his family lived near mine. Fast forward, we moved to Portugal during the pandemic, and we had 2 beautiful girls who are silly toddlers. After 4 years in Portugal, I realized it truly takes a village to raise children, so we decided to move back to be closer to their grandparents’.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The relocation was difficult, because moving is always a big jump. We packed 4 50 lb boxes for cargo, and 4 suitcases running. with a toddler and a 1 year old in Madrid International Airport. I would say it is one of the most hectic, busier airports I have been to. Outside of that, DFW has definitely been a charm. People are nice to me at checkout, people are nice to me when I go on walks. My only struggle would be realizing that people drive VERY fast here.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a content creator where I focus on DIY, home, and of course family. Since moving to Texas, I’ve developed a deep love for home design and renovation. What sets me apart from (some) creators is my outlet has blended in my love for family and faith. Balancing motherhood and career has definitely been a challenge, but I love to connect my faith with teaching my children and followers.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My husband has been my greatest cheerleader. Initially, I had the lowest self confidence in my ability to start my niche in DIY. I didn’t think I could do it, but he has been so patient and encouraging, I am so blessed to have him.
