Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Davis.
Hi Elizabeth, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When Covid hit my family and I made the decision that I would take a leap into something I was passionate about. I am incredibly fortunate in that when I decided to start my business, I had an amazing friend & mentor that took me under his wing and truly taught me more than I could ever “pay” to learn. Since the start, I’ve shot over 30+ weddings (mostly with him) and gained so many clients because of him giving me a chance. I can’t even imagine where I’d be without his guidance, friendship, and amazing talent. Kendrick Shaw is the epitome of a wonderful friend, mentor & human. Fast forward to this past 2022 year – it’s been my busiest yet and I am so excited to continue to grow and learn and just get better. I am super fortunate to have the best client base and support system there is.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I feel as though struggles are a part of life and anything worthwhile. It has been a pretty wonderful ride so far but there have been hiccups. I am still learning to navigate being a business owner and all of the mechanics that’s go with it.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I love true-to-color/bold color in my images as well as super bokeh backgrounds. My main focus is family & children. I love making connections with families and have made amazing friends too. I believe people have come to know my style of editing and that’s why they chose me. I enjoy capturing memories in a way that allows everyone to feel comfortable expressing themselves. I pride myself on these relationships and delivering what I promise. I’m a firm believer in underpromise and over-deliver. I want everyone I am fortunate enough to work with to leave our session feeling amazing and incredibly excited to see their images.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I am constantly learning new techniques, lighting tricks poses, camera capabilities – it’s endless. Anytime there is an opportunity for something creative I leap. My business is mainly referral based and that along with striving to constantly learn more to do better, allows me to succeed in this industry.
