Check Out Erin Lewis’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Lewis.

Hi Erin, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Where there’s a ‘No’ often times a ‘Yes’ is soon to follow. In March of 2024, a friend of mine and I were planning to launch a podcast ministry for women. Unfortunately, there were many dynamics involved and we were told “no.” Broken-hearted and stunned, I drove to work that Friday at the women’s clothing boutique where I work part-time, pouring my heart out to the Lord, “I don’t understand Lord. We heard You. What is Your plan? Why did they say no?” I was reminded of the verse in the Bible in Romans 8:28, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” So I knew God was working as He always is. This was just a new opportunity to go deeper in my trust of His goodness and plans. Two days later on Sunday evening, my husband and I were chatting after dinner about my day at the boutique. Same as usual. I had styled several women, worked on some outfit plans for around the store. But this time after I shared, he said, “Why don’t you start your own styling business?” To which I then responded, “Are you serious?! I don’t know anything about starting a business! How would I? How do I?” I had all the questions and yet I was at peace. Ok. Let’s do it! A no on Friday led to a yes on Sunday. The process has been arduous and fun and scary and exciting! God has provided relational connections, finances, and many other provisions as I’ve walked this journey. It was almost a year to the date of the ‘yes’ that I launched my personal styling business– Sparrow + Lily Styling Co. The heart of this business is to relieve stress, redeem time, and reignite confidence for busy working mom’s and women. If I can give women more time with their families, husbands, friends, or whatever it is they value most then my styling job is complete!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No destination is ever easy to get to. You have to walk, drive, bike, fly, boat etc. to get where you’re aiming to go. However, this journey of a year has been one of constant confirmation of my direction. I liken it to a roadtrip. The city and mileage signs/markers (oftentimes they’re green) you see along a highway let you know you’re either still going in the right direction to get to your final destination… or you’re not. And with each sign you pass, the city (destination) remains the same. The mileage you have until you arrive however, changes as you get closer, it goes down, it decreases. But nonetheless, the sign serves as an indicator you’re still moving in the right direction. All of that to say, my journey has been long, but it has always had mile marker signs, indicators that I’m still moving in the right direction. That I’m still following the Lord on the roadtrip we’re on together. Whenever I would come to a point where I would momentarily question whether this is still what I’m supposed to be doing, the Lord would send someone, show me something, or surprise me letting me know this is still the direction I’m supposed to go. I followed the signs until I reached the destination of launch night– March 2025!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
There are many personal stylists in the DFW area. Very reputable and excellent stylists in fact. But as I researched, I found no stylists who cater or specifically aim to serve or offer styling services to moms; particularly busy, working moms. I myself am a working mom. I work a part time job while I’m getting this new venture of S+L up and going. And I’m also a mom to four kids! So when it came to deciding who I really wanted to serve, the decision was easy– women like me. Busy, working moms and women like me who would rather spend less time shopping aimlessly and more time taking intentional date nights with their husbands. Less time in their closets and more time with their kids. Less money spent on “Maybe I’ll wear this,” and more money on “Let’s take the trip!”

Sparrow + Lily Styling Co. specializes in Closet Detox, Body Shape and Color analysis, Wardrobe Styling, Personal Shopping options, and Special Event styling. Each service is offered a la carte as well as a Signature Package offering which includes all services with the exception of Special Event styling.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Just start! There’s never a good time to start. There’s just time. And we don’t get it back. Spend it wisely. If you’re thinking or dreaming or the season seems right, jump off the deep end and make a huge splash!

Find others around you, surround yourself with likeminded people who will teach you, help you, walk with you. The journey is as much about the company as it is the destination. I’m surrounded by people who are ahead of me in the industry. People who are ahead of me in entrepreneurship and business savvy. I am constantly asking questions. I want to be a good steward of the finances and opportunities but even more I want to be a great steward of my relationships.
