Today we’d like to introduce you to Fernando ( Dj Stéphane) Balam´s Den Pineda

Hi Fernando ( DJ Stéphane) Balam´s Den, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
(Fer DJ Stéphane) My passion for music begin when I was 13 playing guitar and other instruments in Mexico City, I was playing in rock, punk rock bands and indie electronic genres experimenting with other types of music, in my late teenage years became interested in electronic music and i’ve been pursuing it for 15 years.

I was active in many different scenes all around Mexico, and 4 years ago I moved to Dallas and met Jaciel (DJ Jaaz) and we start playing and talking about music for hours and we noticed that we have similar interest in music so we decided to create Balam´s Den, we collectively decided to call it like that because of our heritage, it’s a mayan word that means jaguar.

Balams Den is a crew focused in exposing underground talent in electronic music trying to create a unique experience for others so they can listen to new sounds with the purpose of having a great experience.

We have been assembling parties all around the metro plex collaborating with these artists and attempting to promote local talent in order to increase this culture. We have had the opportunity to host several influential artist: Justin Strauss, Brett Johnson and Matias Aguayo.

What we do is not for fame or money but because we have a passion and we want to share our passion for the music with as many people as possible.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Yes, there have been bumps in the road but success is about overcoming them.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I enjoy being a DJ and have a respectful relationship with more artists admiring and promoting underground talent

I’m proud of taking care of people at my personal life, work and art.

I think in the benefit of others first than mine. I really enjoy helping people i feel special.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Yes, that we live in a new world now more influenced by the technology, so the personal relationships started losing the importance they used to have.
