Today we’d like to introduce you to Himani Pathak.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
One day my mom came up to me and said, “I signed you up for a writing class.” I vividly remember being upset about it. I was already balancing three classes a week and school! “Oh, you’ll also publish a book in it,” she said nonchalantly. My mind was blown. I had always liked to write but writing a book seemed daunting. I hesitantly joined the first session and established a plot for my book. “Okay, I can do this!” I told myself over and over again. Hours and hours were spent writing, rewriting, and editing. And voila, after around five months, my book was published on Amazon! I was in shock as I held it in my hands. It was a surreal feeling.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to publishing a book was as bumpy as it gets. I went through a period when I just wanted to quit altogether. Starting the book off was very difficult for me. I had an idea, but I wasn’t sure what to do next!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I love all creative outlets, especially playing guitar and writing! I find that words and music can express so much! I’ve written my book – Serenading The Sun. (blurb of the book). Missing the fine print of a competition flyer throws four strangers together. Hand in hand, they face life and establish their musical careers.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
A mentor should always be someone who’s experienced what you’re currently going through. My mentor, Neetu Rishi, guided me through writing and publishing a book. Without her firsthand experience, I would be lost. It’s important to have a mentor or someone to help you out. You can’t do everything alone!
