Today we’d like to introduce you to Holly Homer
Hi Holly, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I accidentally started on of the original mom blogs 20 years ago. I was a stay-at-home mom of two very little boys who was staying sane only because every Saturday morning I would email back and forth with a friend from college who also had a couple of young kids. This went on for a year or so until one morning when I opened up the email, the subject line said, I think we should stop emailing.
After a near heart-attack, I read the email which told me how there was this thing called a blog and you could make one by going and filling out a form at blogspot. She explained she was also emailing another friend (cheating on me) and it would be easier for her if we all had blogs and could just go read each other’s writings there.
I started my blog that day choosing the name “June Cleaver Nirvana” where I wrote about my life of long hours and not much happening while raising what ended up to be 3 boys.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In the beginning, blogging was a hobby. And as the blogging community grew, it became a support system. As opportunities became available, it turned into an adventure and finally it grew to support my family.
Nothing about the road has been smooth! I feel like I have built my business on cluelessness from day one. Never knowing exactly where I was headed or how to get there. Hands-on, in-the-trenches experience has been an amazing teacher with a new level of respect for failure!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Before I started blogging, I was a Physical Therapist which means my college and graduate school years were full of science classes and labs…not writing. One of the most amazing journeys over the last 20 years is the discovery of how doing something daily really leads to mastery.
Today, writing is one of my very favorite things to do. I now have 4 books and still write daily. I find that my most popular stories are the silly little things that could happen to anyone on any regular day.
Any big plans?
Not planning and just heading in the direction that excites (or makes sense to) me has worked in building my online business. One of those directions lead me (and a partner) to solve one of my biggest problems — selling online without having to build a fancy and complicated funnel — by creating a software, Pagewheel. Pagewheel allows you to use ai to create a digital product like a planner, workbook or guide quickly with templates and then because Pagewheel knows what you created, it automatically generates a sales page, delivery page and all the social media posts you need to promote it. It has taken a job that used to take me days to just minutes.
