Today we’d like to introduce you to Isaac Sloane.
Hi Isaac, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I picked up the guitar at 20 after playing college baseball in Oklahoma and moved to Denton to take my chances at the touring musician life. I think I made the right choice because it’s the first time in my life where I feel like I’m doing what I’m here on this earth to do. I met a great group of guys to start the Brigade with and we’ve been rockin and rollin ever since!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No absolutely not. In Texas being a non country band puts you in last place in the public attention space. It’s like trying to get the band off the ground in hard mode, but weve made some devoted fans and each time we hit the stage we make sure that every single person In the room will remember our name by the end of the night.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m “known” on a regional scale as a guitar slinger/vocalist and songwriter. We’ve only been at it 3 years, but we’ve already shared the stage with some big names and played on some historic stages.
How do you think about luck?
Luck is everything. Being talented is the bare minimum in the modern live music landscape. The difference between barely being able to land a bar gig and playing in front of a sold out crowd at Red rocks is entirely in who you know and being in the right place at the right time. We haven’t been that lucky yet but our work ethic keeps us in front of as many eyes as much as possible for us to have the best chance and catching the right persons attention.
